How to?

Ok now I have started jogging but I don't know what I'm doing. How do I build endurance? Right now I can only jog a short time (around 5-6 minutes) but I can walk a lot afterwards. I have heard that I should walk so long then jog so long then walk again. How long and how many times-3 times?? Then when should I increase the jogging, once a week or what?

What about shoes? Right now I'm just wearing cross trainers.

Any suggestions with helping me jog would be great. I really would love to be able to jog a lot longer. That is a big goal of mine. Also for you women out there, Is there a DD sports bra out there? I'm big and need support. I have never worn a sports bra before but need something for support.  Thanks Julie

The "couch to 5K" program is a great way to build up endurance to run 3.2 miles.  It's a mix of walking/jogging.

If you want to run on a regular basis, i would consider investing in a proper running shoe.  Hopefully there is a running store in your area that can help you get fit for the right one.  I don't mean Olympia Sports or Sports Authority, but more a small boutique running store.   The big stores carry great shoes, but often don't have anyone that can fit you properly.

There are bras for DDs.  You can get underwire, all kinds of things.  www.herroom.com carries quite a variety.  I personally go for the plain sports bra.  I just get the tightest one that fits on my body.  I've accepted "monoboob" as a cost of doing business.  Its the best way to get the boobs to be still when I run, which is the goal.  I'm all about compression.

Good luck!  And don't forget to stretch before AND after!
