Finding my Mojo

I was doing so well a few months ago. Then the *****(my depression) reared her ugly head again. I decided to try a different approach this time and try taking meds for it. That was a mistake. I was so tired all I could do was sleep and eat! And not healthy stuff either. I have completely fallen off the wagon. I did not even run a race that I had signed up for in July. I did stop taking the meds but now dealing with the fallout of it all. Trying hard to get my mojo back. I switched to a gym that is only 2 miles away from my house. Its hard not to get discouraged when starting over from scratch, food, workingout , ect... Thanks for letting me vent. As always this board is so inspiring.

this is a good place to start over, just remember that nothing happens in one day, these things take time.  for me at least, accountability is key, so i make sure that i post daily on the workout thread even if it's a rest day for me.  i will only miss a posting if i'm traveling or don't have a pc available.

best of luck and lean on this group as much as possible, we're here to support each other.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

Andrea,

If you read my race report, you'll see that you aren't alone.  We all tend to talk to ourselves - both into and out of - doing what we need to do.  Remember that no one expects anything more of us than we do, and just being accountable to ourselves is where it's at.  I completely agree with Bill.  Besides that, if you need to start over 85 times, then that's what it takes.  Today is the one that matters, and we all do the best we can every day.  Don't stress it, just do what you can do today.  Tomorrow is usually a little easier, and in no time at all, the habit is reformed.

Just keep plugging away, one day at a time.  It does get better.  It's also easier when you make the commitment to yourself to be the best YOU you can be.

Take Care,

Linn

The important thing is you are trying something new.  If you post more often to this site, it might help you feel more accountable, and eventually you'll actually start enjoying sharing your achievements.

I am starting over for the 3rd time since WLS and its is frustrating when I just 2 yrs ago I was jogging 10 miles w/o walking getting ready for my first half (that I have yet to accomplish) and now I go 2-3 miles and have to walk about every half mile to get my wind.  But on the upside; I've been here before and know if I am consistent in getting my workouts in, it will improve.

Don't get too down on yourself.  There is a great mix of skill levels here but they all remember their roots and starting off.  And its all about personal goals and personal improvement; personal records (PRs).  I'd gottten tired of paying the registration fees for events but I have come to realize, they served as the carrot that kept me motivated to do better and practice regularly.  Kudos on fighting to overcome issues and moving forward.  Winning those daily battles add up to winning the war.

Hi Andrea,

When I first had my surgery in Nov of 2008 I did so well....for a while with exercise (about a year).  Then I lost my mojo and have tried to get it back since.  The family, spouse, home obligations are always...in my way.  Trust me I am eating more then before but avoiding higher fat foods and the like.  I need to find a new path and it is very, very tough!

Thanks for listening
