Does eating soup stop your weight loss?
If you're at the point where you can find yourself satisfied by soup alone, I think it's fine. Putting protein powder into the soup can bump up the satisfaction quotient a bit. There are lots of times when I'm on the run and not in the mood for a "bar" replacement (especially in the winter) when an instant cup of soup does wonders. I think it really depends on your situation. But I think most of the time when people eat soup it just slides on through and you don't get the full feeling or the satisfaction sensation is short lived and you just end up eating again much sooner than you would have with a solid meal. (Actually the high sodium content does make commercially prepared soup a no-no as well.)
I am not alone, neither are you.
All soups are not created equal. Chunky soups with lots of veggies and tender meat is ok. You should probably sip the broth first the eat the meat and veggies. I eat chunky bean lentil/ veggie soups just about everyday and I think it helps make me feel full.

I wasn't really thinking of soup as liquid calories-- I was thinking I could work it into a 1200cal diet a couple times a week.
