Laying flat is still uncomfortable?

I am over two weeks out from surgery and I still can't lay flat in my bed, not on my back, side or belly! When I do, I feel like I have a burp that is stuck in my chest and it can be very painful until I sit up. I have tried every position and still can't get comfortable. I am sick of sleeping in the recliner in the living room, anyone have any ideas?

I had to sleep with a few pillows placed from the middle of my back to the top of my head.  I could sleep flat for almost a month.

I used several big fluffy pillows to prop myself up on. Good luck, sweetie. it only gets better.

I had to sleep in a half-sitting position for a couple of weeks after having a nose job.  What worked for me was one of those big foam wedges that you can buy at a fabric or craft store (like Joann's).

Hey tripmom... I know exactly how you feel.  I slept in the lazy boy chair the first 2 nights and forced my self to sleep in the bed (on my left side) the third night thinking it was just me being silly...oh no, I woke up the next morning and the left side of my tummy was swollen like a round ball....needless to say, I slept in the lazy boy chair for another 2 weeks after that.  It was challenging for me too, to get comfy in bed... I can lay on my right side, but cannot lay on my left side yet.  Laying on my back does not bother me anymore though.

I sleep normally with 6 pillows yes I said 6 not all piled on top of each other but anyways not the point.  I did have to sleep on my back for about a month.  I propped about 3 pillows under my head/neck to where I was slightly angled.  I was soooo tired of sleeping like this but it hurt if I tried any other position.  Then it took me prob another month or two to be able to sleep on my right side (port) cause it would hurt to lay on that side.  Sometimes even now 8 months out its sore to sleep on that side of if I have slept on that side wake up sore. Hey everyone! Thanks so much for all the advice, I am headed out tomorrow to look for the wedge and some more pillows!

Alas, I have not finished my school work, although I did get a 10 day extension befor they will report me to the bank, so that is a plus. I am ALMOST done, so I know I won't need the 10 days. But man, I picked some hard classes to take during such a stressful time LOL leave it to me to complicate things instead of making them easier.
