Yes you read that right, and no I am not kidding!  He had his surgery September 9th and his incision wouldn't heal.  He has been wearing gauze over it because it hs been draining so bad.  He has been in to get it checked out 3 different times, and finally started an antiobiotic.  Well the anti-biotic cleared up the infection and pushed his port out the hole of his incision.  When he woke up Saturday morning (1 week of antibiotics) we saw a big glob of stitches AND two stitches that were sewen to something white.. something really white so we knew it wasn't tissue.  He went in at 1 this afternoon and it is his PORT that those two stitches are sewen to that is now visible and literally sticking out of his incision!

So he is being scheduled for a port revision ASAP.  I hope they don't make him wait more then a day or two.  He has been in so much pain the past 2 days.  This totally sucks in a major way considering it is more time off of work and main source of income is his job!  Wonderful.... hopefully the next one will go smoothly and heal properly!

How painful is a port revision?

Oh My God!
I have no idea how painful that will be, but I wish you both a smooth revision, happy healing and hopefully back to work in no time.

Poor guy. What a bad way to start off. I hope the rest of his band journey is smooth sailing.

What a yucky way to start his journey! Well wishes are sent his way!!! (And I have no clue about the pain of a port revision. Thankfully, I've not had any problems thus far.)

First, I am sooo sorry!  But good news is that I have read about Bandsters who have gotten a port revision and gone on vacation the next day, so I think it is a really "simple" procedure, they should be able to get him right in and get it done.  Give him our well wishes!

Thanks!  I will take pictures when he gets home tonight and post them on my profile if anyone is curious to see it.

He is having his revision not until FRIDAY at noon.  He isn't very happy about that.  He was in so much pain last night that he took the loratab from his surgery 2 months ago to go to bed.  They told him to just keep it covered until Friday.

I hope it goes smooth.  He was leery about getting the surgery to begin with because he has never had any kind of surgery or medical issue in his entire life... and i mean NOTHING.  So I know he isn't going to be too happy about the whole thing.

All I can say is that's shocking! A. I would insist they give him something for the pain there is no reason for him to suffer and B. don't think I'd let the same surgeon touch me again!

He still has liquid loratab from after surgery.

And I don't think it is the surgeons fault.  I also had her do mine in May and haven't had any problems.  She thinks that his incision got an infection early on which is why it would not heal to begin with.  His incision closed ONE time with a thin scab and bust open the very next day.  I don't think it is from anything she did or did not do.  He will not be switching surgeons.  She has been great and has a great reputation around here as well.

Thanks for all the kind words, I will keep you posted on how it goes and let you know when I get pictures of it posted.  I know it can be hard to believe.. but it is true.
