So I am going to totally miss drinking liquid while I am eating. Do you ever stop missing that?

I have gotten use to it. BUT, I find that I think I'm still hungry (even thuogh the band says other wise) so I PURPOSE to get my water in after the 1 hour time. It amazes me how ONLY after I have had my water do I actually feel satisfied!

And I will waterload prior to eating and it helps alot!

I missed it, so I did it and WHOA what  a mistake!  They say that you will move the food from your pouch down to the stomach fast if you drink, but they don't tell you it will make you feel HORRIBLE.  I felt awful, sick, slimy, stuck and miserable after trying it a few times, but I broke that habit fast.  I have adjusted and don't miss it anymore.

I am so struggling with this, I have done that forever, and I am really having a hard time with that one.  I was thinking today that I cant have any liquid around me when I eat because I keep grabbing for it out of habit.  I am so use to doing it. It is as if I am not finished my meal until I drink something!

I've grown accustomed to it.  I "practiced" early on before surgery so I could get the hang of it.  When I go out to eat, the servers constantly asks if I need or want something to drink.  I say no thanks not right now but I will let you know when I need something to drink.  If they happen to bring something, I just pu**** to the far end of the table.

It all gets better with time... I assure you!

Blessings,

Rarely, but if I am dehydrated before I eat and don't get enough fluid in, I cannot WAIT for my hour to be up and drink.

Right now, I am sick so taking guafenesin(mucinex) in theraflu liquid and it dries you out (indiscriminately) and so I am on my FIfth 32oz bottle of water.......anyways, I couldn't wait until after lunch to drink today......it was hard.  So I don't miss drinking with meals, just sometimes I can't wait to drink after.  I never, ever have to be prompted to drink when the time is up.

I only miss it when we go out to eat......and then only if it's breakfast food, and I have to limit coffee to "before" and none after.

This was very hard for me to I really felt like I had to have a sip now and then. I weened myself off the liquid during meals and just would not have a glass of anything sitting next to me while I ate. If I really felt I needed a sip I would have to get up and go across the kitchen for it and only a sip.

After I got good restriction, even a sip was out of the question because I would feel to full and my meal would feel like it was going to come up, very uncomfortable feeling...ugh

I don't miss it at all now:)

I do think much of it is habit, unless you have something too hot, spicy or salty.

Our program only called for us to stop drinking 1/2  hour before and we could start 1/2 hour after eating.

I don't really pay that much attention to this and I probably should.  I do take a sip while I'm eating, not a big sip, just a little one.  Or sometimes, especially in the am I will have a hot cup of coffee or tea right before eating.  It hasn't caused me any problems, but I know your not suppose to do this.

IF we're out to dinner and we are having a glass of wine, do you think I just let it sit there on the table, absolutely not, I take sips from it.  It has never iterferred with what I'm eating.  I can see where gulping something, or drinking something carbonated might, but for me it's not an issue.

The wine is not a usual thing, only once in awhile, we're pretty much a 90% on the program and 10% off, we never have felt deprived from anything and I think this might be why.  But don't do what I do, follow your own program....
