Nothing special as we absorb everything we eat. I was always told, and so take, one multi-vit a day. I prefer effervescent ( gone flat!) to chewable. I also take glucosamine/chondriotin and calcium simply because I am a female in my 60s but that is not related to my band, just my age.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Thank you so much, the information was very helpful! I was banded in 2/07, Have not followed close protocol ;( thought I might visit the boards to get help! With the calcium is there a difference between  the citrate and caltrate?

The ASMBS recommends that lap band patients get a multi with 100% of most vitamins and minerals as well as 1500mg of calcium citrate a day.  The calcium needs to be split into three doses since you can only deal with 500-600 mg at a time.

Yet another cultural difference! As most banded people eat around 1200 a day and absorb everything, we are told only a multi-vit is necessary as we should eat a balanced diet. Poet Kelly once quoted very high figures to me ( probably those) but said it was the same as for RNY people which is crazy!

Most banded oeople on here say they were told just one multi-vit.

The ASMBS recommendations for RNY are very different, actually.  They involve more vits in general and a multi with 200% of most things.  (Sleeve and Lap Band have more similar recommendations.)

Thanks, Gwen. Didn't look myself, as far as I can remember! I am guilty of that dangerous thing - quoting someone else's "knowledge" without looking for myself! My excuse is, it wasn't important to me as I had my own doctor's instructions! But I should know better!
