Hi, you may want to post your questions on the main message board.  The MGB is not the sleeve.  Plus the audience on the main board is huge.  Better chance of finding your answer.  Good luck!

Hi, I am currently awaiting approval for the lap band because my doctor said that insurance companies are not covering the Sleeve (mini) gastric yet.  I am wondering if anyone got there insurance to pay for the sleeve?  I have GHI and I am looking for any info.  Thanks

Topic: RE: TSH Thyroid Question
Hi,

I would think you should ask yourself a few questions and be honest with yourself.  Am I eating healthy meals in appropriate portions?  Is my activity level appropriate for my size and weight, meaning am I active?  Do I ever eat because I am bored, upset, fearfull, hurt and/or disappointed?  There are usually many factors why a person is obese. It's rarely just one thing.  Then, based on your discoveries, you can make a knowledgeable decision.  If not, maybe see or talk with someone who works with people with eating issues and he/she may be able to help you with these questions.

I know you are in AK, but I just had mini gastric bypass yesterday, my doctor will take any insurance that approves.  My doctor only does mini bypass or lap band. let me know if you want his info.  I'm located in Wilmington, NC. The eastern coast.  Have you heard of Wrightsville beach, Carolina Beach, Myrtle Beach.  You can stay at any hotel we have great hotels, great accommodations for you and your family to be comfortable.

Topic: TSH Thyroid Question
Just found out during my nutritoin appt that my thyroid was high and was instructed I needed to begin taking meds before my surgery. If this isn't done than I will have some challenges lossing weight "no matter" which surgery I select.

Now I'm wondering if my levels have always been high and if this is why my weight has been out of control for many years. Not sure how to go now? Do I delay my this surgrey for a few months to see the meds will really help me with my weight lost or if I continue and get it done in June.

HAS anyone faced this issue???

Topic: Choices... Before and After

I saw a commercial the other day and it really resonated with me. It was about making choices and how one good choice can often lead to another. I know that before WLS I often found that if I made 'bad' choice regarding food, I often would often give myself permission to throw in the towel and quit trying to make good choices. I think that the biggest difference for me after WLS is that I'm much more focused on trying to make good choices and much more forgiving when I make a bad choice, realizing that each new choice is a new opportunity to be where I want to be.

Soooo... when you stub your toe and make a less the optimal choice, how do you handle it? Do you handle it any differently after deciding to have WLS?

Have you checked with your insurance company to be certain they cover the MGB? I'm betting they don't.
