Well I think the best thing to do is call or email Dr. Rutledge and let him tell you why.

Where do I go to check out the credintials of a doctor I am considering for the MGB. I don't want to just jump in since this is a serious surgery.
Topic: Another Insurance Question
I am have a very difficult time understanding why the doctors who perform the MGB will not accept insurance. If it is so much better and cheaper than the RNY I would think there would be no problems with accepting insurance companies. There are so many obese people out there who are in need of this life threatening disease who cannot afford it if it is not covered by their insurance. Does anyone have the answer?

Topic: RE: Drs. who accept insurance for mini gastric bypass. NEED HELP
I too have been looking for a doctor who accepts insurance for the MGB. But I just found out today that the only doctor in the state of MO does not accept insurance. I contacted my insurance company and they are sending to their board a request for services out of plan. Have you tried this?
If they accept it I will have to pay in advance and be reimbursed. I will have to use a credit card. Not sure why these doctors will not accept any insurances. Good luck.

Aloha,
Dr. Ungson in Hermosillo is great. The staff is caring and kind, the hospital superb. I had my surgery in October 2007 and would do it again in a heartbest.

Hi,
You can check the other doctors that are trained. Also check on the discounts he gives off his website also. Talk to his staff about payment programs etc.

Hi,
You are probably right. I don't think you can get the MGB at 178 lbs. The risk of too much weight loss is a factor. I'm not sure which procedure you could get. A lot of weight gain is caused by bad food choices and alot of our weight gain is just that. Changing how you eat and your relationship with food would help. Do you attend a support group? This is something that is extremely important. Maybe if you talk to experts in the food addiction/disorder field would help. Also a nutritionist may be able to advise you on food choices as well.

Hello,
Wow, you wanted to talk. Anyway, as with any surgical procedure there are risks. Not everyone response the same way. Research shows that some folks do well with one procedure others do not. The MGB has come a long way and is still one of the top procedures out there. Stereotyping is very common among us all. If someone doesn't do well then that is not good for anyone. Very common response which, of course, is not always the truth. So, the truth is, depends on the individual.
I am 10 years post op with the MGB and would do it again in a heart beat.
