Topic: RE: What are the qualifications? What if your insurance doesn't cover MGB?
Howdy!
I notice you're in CO. My surgeon (down in Canon City, south of Colorado Springs) does what he calls a Simplified Gastric Bypass; it is the same same surgery that Dr. Rutledge performs, but he has a patent on the name and no other doc can call his surgery by that name. He revised me from a band 3 years ago and I couldn't be happier with the results. Not quite as many hoops to jump through as on clos.net (although they are an excellent surgical group, from what I can gather)!
Let me know if you'd like more info, and good luck woth your journey!

Topic: Support Group - Jacksonville, FL
I'm a OH Support Group Leader here in Jacksonville, FL and would like to send an invitation to anyone who'd like to join us for a meeting in the near future.
We meet on the 1st Thursday night of each month, 6:30 PM. Its a dinner meeting which is usually held at the Town Center or Tinsel Town . . . . which seems to be centrally located for everybody.
If you're interested in joining us, please let me know so I can add you to my mailing list and be sure you're invited to future meetings. Are meetings are open to people, no matter what type of surgery you may have had.
In the meantime, tell me something about you and if you have a profile on OH, please direct me there.
I look forward to meeting pre ops and post ops and those that are just in the curiosity phase of the journal.
Be Blessed,
LaWanda

Topic: RE: MGB in Canada
Hi, i myself would have liked to have this option but as far as I know you can only have it done in the States. My friend had it done in the fall of 2007 (she is from the niagara peninsula) and had to go to Michigan and stay at a motel after wards for a week before she could come back home. I belive she told me that they don't perform them in Michigan anymore. She was actually covered by ohip but they stopped doing it as of the fall of 2008 wich is when I started to become interested in the procedure. Right now the only procedure covered here in Canada is the ryn bypass. I wish that ohip covered more options than they do. Atleast with the mgb it can be reversed if it needed to be. However I am waiting to have the ryn. Hope this helps, Tammy
Topic: MGB in Canada
Hi have read tons of information about the MGB and I really think its the procedure for me BUT I cant seem to find any Doctor who preforms the procedure in Canada..I have been to the website for Dr.Rutledge and seem all kinds of his videos and seems to be a great Doc but he practices in the U.S and I was kinda hoping to find a Doctor in Canada .
The cost of this surgery is ALOT and was hoping to see if I could find someone closer who does the MGB..or is Dr.Rutledge the only one who does this Mini Gastric Bypass..PLZ Leave your thoughts on this topic

Topic: RE: Caffine and coffee?
Hi,
I may be a bad influence, but I drink coffee. I don't drink alot of it, one or two cups a day. Over time, I have developed some bad habits which I am hoping to break.

Topic: Caffine and coffee?
I have a question, I am scheduled for mgb surgery on February 16 and I was wondering if anyone knows if you can drink coffee after the surgery. Is it the caffine you shouldn't have or the coffee bean? I love my coffee and I think that will be the hardest obsticle to overcome!! Thanks for any feedback
Topic: RE: oklahoma or texas
I would actually like to know the same thing. What is the deal with this MGB? I have seen tons of people on YouTube that have had that. I am having my surgery (RNY) on 2/11. We are very close in our date. I am actually already on partial liquids trying to lose 20 lbs. before my surgery.
How are you doing? Are you getting excited. I am very much. So much so that I can't sleep very well. I am too busy researching and finding new ideas on how to be successful. I am anxious about it all.
I hope we can be of help to each other and stay in touch.

Topic: Article Documents Findings that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Boosts WLS Success
I came across an article that indicates that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy may boost the Success of Weight Loss Surgery. It confirms what I and many others have found. It is why the 'Beck Diet Solution' has been such a helpful tool to me and some of my weight loss surgery support group members. The Beck Diet Solution is not geared specifically to WLS patients, but to anyone who wants to identify and manage destructive food related behaviors. Here's a link to the article.
