Good Aug to you all! July has been a roller coaster for me.
I have significantly increased the amount of time I spend at the gym but that has caused me to spend fewer days. (3hours a day now 3 days a week vs 1 hour a day 6 days a week)
I have been also on an emotional roller coaster. I am adicted to the gym, and when i dont go i feel sluggish, so cutting down the days a week ( i had too much to do getting ready for school to start) I spent a lot of time telling my self to watch what i eat, i am NOY nice to me when I dont work out.
I did how ever have a few NSV this month!
i have been in a platue for the entire month, so all i have had are NSV! 1- my thighs dont touch when i am sitting down!
2- i was able to put my plate away when i wanst hungry & didnt feel guilty about throwing away food! (i was always taught to finish my plate!)
3- i now get atleast 6 hours a sleep a day. from my 3-4 hour a day! it feels great!

Good Monday morning everyone! We're saying byebye to July and 2/3 of the summer is gone with it. I know most of you are in areas where the summer heat seems as though it will never leave. I feel your pain!!

Please everyone check in and let us all know you are here! How's the summer gone so far? Any goals reached or current goals working on? Any NSV (Non Scale Victories) you want to report??

Thanks again for everyone on here. You honestly make this WL journey more meaningful for me each day.

I have an elliptical at home and my workouts have been on that exclusively. I hop on, set the resistance and warm up for a couple of minutes at incline 8 for a minute then 9 for a minute. Then I go for a minute at 10, then a minute at 11, then a minute at 12, 13 and 14 (the highest my machine will go). Then I drop back down to 10 and repeat that 5 minute cycle over and over until I’m almost done. At the end I drop the resistance and incline for a couple of minutes. That type of workout is supposed to be great for the heart.

That is so good to hear!! I'm so glad you are on here. It sounds like you have lots of experience and good advice to share with us. I'm in the 230's and want to be down to 199 so badly! I'm also taking it in small sections because the big number is just too big to think about. :_) Can I ask what type of workouts are you doing these days? Working out is a whole new thing to me. I also had to lose a good amount of weight before I could begin to move. I'm in that place now and would love to hear about what you are doing.

I almost had WLS also. That's how I ended up here. But I realized that regardless of the surgery I was going to have to change my eating habits. I've seen people lose a bunch of weight with WLS, then gain it all back because they made no long-term changes to their eating habits. Along those lines, I watched the entire video blog of this girl who had WLS and this video, as well as a couple of her others helped me to realize that surgery alone was not going to do the trick.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not judging you. WLS is still a future option for me. But for now I'm working on changing what and how I eat.
That is a really great video! I dind'****ch the past couple minutes but she had lots of great food advice! She needs her own show.

You can do it! A 10 pound weight-loss in a month sounds like a great goal. Good luck!

I have a big vaca coming up in November that I'm looking forward to, but am also scared about. I know I'll gain weight. Who wouldn't at an all-inclusive resort? But vacations are worth it, don't you think? It'll take me a few weeks to get off what I put on during that week, that's all.
Eating well on vacation is super hard for me. One thing I noticed was that I was over eating when I didn't have a good reason for it. Next time I go out of town I want to try and eat without over doing it. When I'm full I want to stop. When I'm busting a gut I want to stop.

The only time I didn't gain weight on vacation was when we went to Italy. I know it sounds crazy! We ate the best food over there. BUT we were VERY active. We walked everywhere. The site we saw was all walking activities. Ten or more hours of walking per day really does help! On the other hand it's not very relaxing to have a vacation like that.

welcome back!
Thank you!! I was within two pounds of my WL goal and was so proud of that. My family and friends gave me tons of complements about how good I looked. My 10 year old niece and i were shopping in Target on the first day i got back. At one point she ran up to me from behind and said 'you look so SKINNY right here!!" She was talking about my middle section! Wow... who would have ever thought! LOL! I'm going to keep going. And next time I see 'em they will be blown away again!
