Who in God's name are you talking to.. you were excused a while ago. Talk about an effing nut case.
Thanks and it was my greeting one wet morning after letting them out of the sliding glass door. All that mud was foot prints from them asking to be let back in. Lets put it this way there was tons of washing on the deck before they got back in. They love mud And I adore them, dirty or not.
I didn't realize you worked for a shelter. That's awesome. I don't think I could handle that--I'd see abused dogs come in and start plotting ways to make their previous owners pay.
Yes, I would absolutely get an adult dog. While our younger dog wouldn't mind a more active playmate, a puppy would be too much for our older dog to handle. We got both our dogs as rescues. Jackson, the younger, was about a year and a half, and Perkins, the older, was 5. We have had them for 10 and 9 years, respectively, so I definitely don't feel like I was cheated out of time with my dogs by getting adults.
You make a good point about getting a dog 5 or older. One of the other posters mentioned it as well. I usually think of adult dogs as being over 2, but now that I think back, the dogs I've had in the past were all pretty active well past that point.
We have taken our dogs to local dog parks, and to visit family members with dogs. We have also dog sat in our home for relatives. Our younger dog is very social and loves to play with other dogs, although he does get tired out more quickly than he used to. If he does not have other dogs around, like if we take our older dog to the vet or groomer and leave him home alone, he gets destructive. Our older dog just wants someone to pet him, and has no desire to play anymore. The fact that our younger dog is so social is the main reason I'm thinking about getting another dog. I think you're right about getting a dog that is 5 or older. A young puppy would be too much for the older dog to handle.
My passion is nature photography. I adore animals, especially birds, I followed a mute swans famiy from the nest to nearly 10 months later when the parents sent their kids packing. That was hard for me to accept, but it's nature and I don't get a say.
I hate guns, they should be illegal. I am pretty sure there are many people in Newtown that wish Adam Lanza's mother hated guns and forbide them around her kids like I did with my son. I had to interview my son's friends parents to see if there were guns in their house before i would let my son visit. Crazy people with guns is a deadly combination. I was twenty minutes away when all those innocent children were murdered at Sandy Hook, I can't even type about it without getting teary eyed.
You realize he was just an actor, right?

Favorite umm none. The one I remember so well Michael Ross, he murdered young womyn when I was a teenager, it was scary because they were just going missing. One of the dead girls worked down the street from my office when I first started working. He was thankfully put to death a few years back to end the nightmare he created. He is Connecticut's only serial killer.

My least favorite was John Wayne Gacy. Why did he have to give The Duke a bad name? I think we should rename him George Bush Gacy.
I thought it was John Wayne Bobbitt who gave the Duke a bad name. Come to think of it, John Wayne did it to himself: Get off your butt and join the Marines! John Wayne
He was pretty right wing, ultra conservative, and none too tolerant of different points of view.
I just took one Forensic Psych class as part of my doctorate, and it was fascinating!!

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
