Yes, I stated obesity is not a disease, and that it should be treated differently than stage one cancer, and that it is a luxory, and that your life is worth more than her.  Clearly you quoted me.  NOT!!!!

Again... if you read the rest of the post you will see that....I apologized,  and that I never cut down Medicaid or financial assistance.  I am insupprt of medicare paying for WLS to get people back into the work force.

My problem was sitting on $8,000 while on food stamps.  And I stand behind that!  You have a right to disagree, but i have a right to express my opinion without anyone asking for it.

“I would make the same comment if anyone on assistance was having liposuction, a boob job, or having their teeth whitened."

You just proved my point in my last post. RNY is for the disease of obesity. It is not a cosmetic procedure. You think I’d go through all the crap I’ve gone through for looks?!?!?

I think you need to educate yourself on this process, why people do it, and the TRUE spirit of help.

Consider this, my work as a grant writer to secure funding for stroke research, might have just saved YOUR life.  Could you honestly look into a child's face and tell them to bug off and go hungry because their parent lost a job, is disabled, or dead?  Perhaps you should be a bit more compassionate towards people through your actions and how you speak to them (online or in person) and LIVE your faith instead of just talking about it?

On another note, my unemployment money (when I had unemployment money) did come from my employer's insurance, but I still PAID TAXES on it.  Again, I recommend you taking a good hard look at your faith that you have mentioned.  Do you follow Christ or do you follow your politics?

Hand outs?!?!?

That is SO laughable. Because you know Raven’s story right? You know how long she’s worked and how much she’s put into the system, right? Because you’re carrying around a friggin’ crystal ball right?

There is NO shame in asking for help with food and living expenses if you need it. I am a struggling single mother and while I’ve never had to access public assistance believe me I would have if the need ever arose. Before I let my babies go hungry or be homeless I would. And before I let them be left orphaned in the world (cuz I know that nobody can or would care for them as well as I do) I would access Medicaid to have RNY to cure me of the debilitating DISEASE of obesity.

The Kroger and WalMart stores here have electric shopping carts where you can sit down and do your shopping.  Is this not available in where you live?

Squid you know I love you but the implication was there. It's an old prejudice and I know it well. It was there.

You’re just sayin what? That obesity is not a disease? That it should somehow be treated differently than stage 1 cancer or diabetes or all the other diseases covered by Medicaid?

Your prejudice says a lot…including that you are among those who still views obesity as a character defect and WLS as some cosmetic endeavor or luxury. I know I did not do this to look good. I did it to save my life! Raven is doing this to save her life! So are you saying that my life (which is covered by medical insurance) is worth more than hers.

I didn’t think so!

I dont need to feel better about myself.  I'am well past that stage

Your unemployment $$$ comes from an insurance fund paid by your employer.  I pay the same for my employees

I have had 3 strokes that enables me to apply for SS disability and those little "handicap tags"
Each wont offer me anything that will do me any good

And yes, I got  real fat from to much stuff in the cake hole, it was that simple for me
