will I have to give up caffeine ENTIRELY?

Hi everyone  -  What a great summer we've had so far  -  hot, but mostly sunny.
I am hoping to have the DS and was wondering if I have to give up caffeine entirely?
I drink nothing but Red Rose tea, water and sometimes unsweetened grapefruit juice  -  no pop.  I gave up diet Coke ten years ago as I was a diet Coke "junkie"  and worried about drinking so much of it all the time  -  I couldn't go a day without drinking diet Coke.
(I tried a Diet Coke a couple of years ago and couldn't believe that I, at one time, loved the taste  -  it was horrible!  I stay away from artificial sweeteners.)  I also gave up coffee at the same time.  I thought that I was doing good things for my body by going to tea and leaving the others behind.
Will I have to give up tea too after the DS?    Can I "up" the amount of water to offset the diuretic affect of the tea?  I know that I'm a tea addict now  -  no wonder I'm fat  - lmao  -  I get addicted to  anything I put in my mouth  lol!
So, wise brothers and sisters, can you give me some advice?  Is there such a thing as decaffeinated, ordinary tea?  I don't like herbal teas - I guess because there's so buzz with them.

Timmies has a decaffeinated tea that is not a herbal tea??  OMG!
I live one block from Tim Hortons, and the ladies at the drive thru know my vehicle, my face and my order - one extra large black tea.
I'm on my way to timmies!

Caffine can affect weight loss. You will want to limit your intake. Dr L will tell you to give up all soda. He hates the stuff. So from your consult to surgery limiting it will help you lose some of your pre-op weight. After surgery carbonation is very hard on your new smaller stomach. You have to wait a while before having soda again but a lot of us do. I waited a few months and started out slow and on ice. As for tea, you will want to watch the caffine but you will be drinking it after surgery, so fear not!

Hi Bev  - I don't care about pop, but I do about tea.  However, giving up tea is a small price to pay for a healthier, slimmer body.  It's good to know that I will be able to have some.
Thanks.

I drink stuff that has caffeine but I will also drink lots of things without it.  I also don't have +++ of those drinks a day.  For example one day I may have 2 regular medium Timmy's coffe's and a diet pepsi and the next day I may order all my coffee's decaf and only drink water and ginger ale...I just change it up.

Marg, previous to my surgery, I REALLY enjoyed my coffee and tea black.  Since surgery, I'm not liking the decaf coffee, think I've had 2 cups, and I am drinking the Timmys decaf tea.  Its still not the same.  I'm hoping that someday, it will be better.  p.s. you can buy the Timmys tea by the box!!  Patti K.

There are a lot of nice decaf teas's.  I love my earl gray decaf, which you can get in any grocery store ( I use the Twinnings's it's good quality and only 2.99/box).  Chai tea is also decaffinated.  Green Tea also comes in decaf, and is great for you.  The rest are fruity herbals etc.
