Hi all,
Has anyone ever dealt with an anal fissure?
The pain is so bad I'm passing out when having a bowel movement.
They had me on 2 Tylenol 3 every 4 hours and have now gone to perkaset (SP) and I don't like the feeling of not being in control so cant take them.
I go to St Jo's hemorrhoid and fissure clinic on the 17Th.
Just looking for any ideas I may not have thought of...
Thanks

My wife used some kind of special round wipes to treat a tear from childbirth. It really helped with the pain. They have some weird name like chestnut wipes or something like that. Maybe they would help with the fissure.

I believe it is Witchhazel. I think they have something in them that kind of "numbs" the area - and are cool and soothing (if I remember back to my childbirth days...)
I have had these before. Try using a stool when you "poop" for your feet..tends to relieve some of the pressure. Hemeroid cream can sometimes help - it has an analgesic in it I think. I also had some luck using that white, zinc diaperrash cream that I used on my son's diaper rash.
All these things were my desperation attempts, being as I was too embarrassed to talk to my dr. about it. Not sure if any of them were responsible..but it eventually healed.
LOTS of liquids etc. to keep things "flowing" smoothly is good too.
Good luck. Hope it clears up soon.
