Hi,

Has anyone found this product in Ottawa and if so, where?  I'm in the mood for chili and I'm not ready for real meat yet.

Thanks!

Sue

Hi Sue;
You can use lentils instead of meat.

Thanks Laurel. I plan on using a variety of beans and lentils as well but I wanted the "texture" of meat from the TVP.

Cheers,

Sue

I found TVP at the Bulk Barn.  It was years ago - great for chili but not much else.

I bought mine at the Loblaws Superstore in Kanata but I haven't tried it yet.....however I am sure you could find it at any Loblaws store in Ottawa.

Thank you!

Edited:  Which section did you find it in?

There is a specialty foods area.  Stuff is in bags, things like steel cut oats, quinoa, TVP...  I think the name on the bags is, Red Mill but going on memory of having seen it there.  I'd love to say what area, but it seems so many of the stores have their own designated area for everything I'm lost each time I enter a new store.

I usually buy Yves' Veggie Ground Round.  Once it's in your chili, you can't tell the difference between that and ground beef.  You can find Yves' in just about any grocery store - - usually deli section.

Thanks everyone!  Loblaws didn't have it in stock but I found it at Bulk Barn.  Now... off to make the chili!

Hi Sue....I see by your facebook comment that the chili turned out great.....Do you have a recipe?
I bought some before at bulk barn as well but I did see it in the health food section of loblaws....

When I went to weigh****chers years ago...our leader mentioned the TVP.....she used it the the ground beef to make it go further...feed more ppl that way...and save money.....

My SIL used it to make cabbage rolls and you couldn't tell the difference.
