Heating Up Optifast and Protein Powders

I will also ask the surgeon when I go for my pre-op, but I thought maybe someone else may know.  Does heating up whey isolate protein powder change the 'structure' of it?  ie.  Will it go sour or cause the nutrients to not be as valuable?

Also is there any kind of hot chocolate powder that you can use post RNY surgery?  I tried hot chocolate powder with a scoop of unflavoured whey protein today and it was actually quite good.

Has anyone tried warm chocolate Optifast?  Is it any good or is it best cold?

Thanks,
Kristie

 DO NOT HEAT OPTIFAST!!!!

it is meant to be drank cold.  actually i believe there is a warning on the packets about heating opti.

post RNY make sure you get the sugar free versions.  you really do not wanna get into dumping syndrome.  as far as the protein powder im not sure but i would think no to heating...

Hi Kristie
what I did was add the powder to the water with 4 big ice cubes then blended till the ice was like a smoothie or thick shake...then drank it as fast as I could! LOL  I don't think heating up Opti will work out, but ask your Dr.
Good Luck!
