ADEK's Discontinued

In an earlier post I exalted the virtues of my "GI Guy" in Hamilton

He grabbed the bull by the horns and gave me a prescription strength, easy to digest multi-vitamin, designed for people with mal-absorption syndrome.  That was February.  My pharmacist has been trying since then to get it for me. . .imagine my surprise when I learned, from the manufacturer today, that they had pulled it from the market.  When asked why I was given the "I am not at liberty to say" line.  Since then I have been trying to research why its been pulled, and believe me I have access to more advanced search engines than "google".  All I can find is that it has been pulled due to "Health Canada, 'regulatory issues'" and that an application for a substitute formulation license has been completed however it may take "several months to a year before its approved"

I called the prescriber and he had no idea that this had happened nor is he aware of a substitute.

My life sucks!

Bariatric Advantage makes a high ADEK chewable Multi.
Let me look for the info. There is a lady in BC who ships them to us from within Canada so no duty. Looks like they carry the full line of Bariatric Advantage Products.

I spoke to Canada Customs a few weeks ago, there is no Duty on vitamins, you just have to pay the Tax and any brokerage/processing fee the shipper charges.

Thanks Yasmeen, this is good to know. Still worth pricing on several sites as shipping and brokerage fees can vary widely from one Courier Company to another and one site to another. These vitamins also go on sale quite often on different sites.
I know others ship there US purchases of vitamins and such to a service at the border and pay a small fee to pick their packages up from there.
In the past I have found shipping with United States Postal Service is often a lot cheaper.
I won't make the mistake of going back to regular vitamins ever I don't think. My labs were great until I stopped taking my Bariatric chewables and tried to supplement with regular vitamins.
For me even at 3.5+ years out I obviously do not break down the regular vitamins and absorb what my body needs. I learned my lesson.

I have my bariatric vites shipped to a friend in Buffalo and pick them up from her place, I generally place a large enough order so that it lasts for months and I get free shipping.  :0)
