My last meal - Optifast tomorrow!!!
Hi Jacqueline
I started Opticrap last Wednesday, just in time for Easter.
I already loved my magic bullet and used it many times with frozen fruit, yogurt and OJ to make smoothies, which I'll continue to do when I get a few weeks out of surgery. It works great.
I tried to use just ice water in the Opti at work on my first day. ICKY!!! That night I went out and got another magic bullet for work. I can't stand the vanilla flavour, even mixed with Crystal Light or extracts. I've been mixing 6-8 oz of cold water with the chocolate powder and a single package of Raspberry CL right in the bullet. Top it up with ice and give it a spin for about a minute. At work, I hit up the Second Cup for ice and off I go.
After six days, I can't face the choc/raspberry again. I tried mixing almond extract this morning and peppermint extract another day but there is a distinct flavour that you just can't mask. I'll be reviewing my literature tomorrow and calling the dietician to see if there's anything else I can do. It's definitely something to endure rather than savour.
As for suggestions on getting through the first few days, drink water constantly and try to space out your shakes every four hours. I also have a low-fat/low-sodium broth daily as a snack. If possible, avoid cooking for others.
I wish you the best of luck on your journey and feel free to ask me anything. I'll help when/where I can. My surgery is May 11th.
Godspeed
PS. Chris is hillarious. And soooo right!!! My friend just advised me to stock up on the benefibre but I've read on the boards that it could actually go either way.

Crackintoes,
Thanks for the info! I wonder how many we are supposed to have? I see in my literature it's 4-5 a day but I see a lot of people posting on here, could only get in 3 of the 4 they were supposed to have. I have broth, I didn't pick up any green veggies yet...I will leave that until I feel I need it. I am on vaca this week so I have time to go around and do errands. Good luck with your surgery! I will keep you in mind should I have any questions! Please keep me in mind as well! All the best!

For me the container I used was a big thing. It had to be a sports bottle. The smell for me was hard at first. The smaller the opening to better.
Flavouring didn't do much to help it for me. I mixed a pkg of vanilla and one of choc together dry in a Zilpoc container and portioned half out. The vanilla on it's own I found way too sweet.
Best of luck with your Opticrap. Your surgery will be here before you know it.
