Going to a wedding tonight...have a question

So Mike and I are going to a wedding today- probably the last for a long time, and a really good friend.  We've snagged a babysitter for the day and late into the night.  YAY!!!

My question is (and I am sure this has been answered a million times- sorry), I want to have a few drinks.  I was 5 months out on the 9th.  Is it really THAT big of a deal if i have a glass of champagne, or a small glass of wine?  Did all of you religiously wait until 6 months out?  Too late to call and ask the nutritionist- though I am sure she'd just tell me to follow the rules :(   I really don't think it would make me sick in terms of dumping since I am pretty convinced I don;t dump.

What do you think.  Can I bend the rules just a little?

Tough call. You'd hate to be out and become ill for sure.  If it were ME - your mileage may vary - I would have a few small sips of wine and wait to see how/if it afffected me.

I would stay away from it.  You don't need to drink to have a good time and if for some reason you do wind up dumping, trust me, it's NOT fun and worse in public.

I would have one small glass of wine and sip it very slowly throughout the night. It may not cause you to dumb but booze will hit you very fast and you can get drunk very quick and on a small amount. I would hate to see that happen to you.  You can have a good time without drinking. Why put empty calories into you.  Have a good time tonight.

Yes, I agree that I don't need to drink to have a good time.  It's just that I am craving a good adult night out without kids which almost NEVER happens at my house.  I bought a beautiful, and very form-fitting red dress, some killer heels, and I guess I'd just like to enjoy it all with a glass of red wine and let loose a little.

If you really want to have a drink, why not have a wine spritzer with tons of ice then you could have a few more of them during the night but still only consume about 1 glass of wine in total all night.  Ask them to just give you the glass of red wine and then mix up about 1 oz red wine with a ton of ice and throw in some club soda, stir very well to get the carbonation almost out, add a slice of lime or lemon and you are good to go.  Looks like you are drinking a full drink but that one glass of wine will make you 5 drinks or more.  I stuck to super weak drinks when I first started drinking after surgery so I'd not get super **** faced fast.

So, how was your wedding, I went to one aswell, In newmarket. I found if I want a little something. I have 1/2 a shot (or less) of vodka, lots of ice, large glass, diet sprit. and it like haveing a couple of drinks in the pre wls days and its enough. The drink last a long time and if the diet sprit goes in over ice most of the carb goes. I bring my own diet pop in my purse so I have what I need.  Hope you had a blast! I did!
