First 2 days on Optifast - and other stuff

Well, I started my OF yesterday.  I don't find it that bad - not great - but if you kick it up a bit with some flavour, they're not bad.  I even added some strawberry juice I had (defrosted sliced strawberries and used the juice).  Made the vanilla taste like a strawberry milkshake.

Bought some 100% fat free, low sodium chicken, beef and veg broth in NF, NY, along with a whole buch of other stuff.  They have some great flavours of Crystal Light as well as other brands of SF crystals.  I don't drink coffee, but I wanted to try the cold decaf coffee with the chocolate - I found some decaf coffee pouches (like tea bags) which will just be enough.  Add some ice and you've got an Chocolate Iced Capp!

(Had a touch of Montezuma's Revenge today, so I ran out and got some Benefibre.  Is that common when starting the OF diet?)

AND ... I got the call for my PAATS for tomorrow (Wed.) - exactly 2 weeks to my surgery date.

Tick Tock!  I'm closing in on my time!!

This is so great!  I love hearing hopeful stories about the Optifast.  I am always quite worried about how I can manage the Optifast because I have a very sensitive palate and gag reflex and a lot of tastes and flavours can cause me to dry heave for hours.  It's quite infuriating!

You're on your way now - it wont' be too long before you're a giant loser!

I like hearing the good stories too!  I also have a terrible gag reflex.  I had to have a colonoscopy a few years ago and tried four different things to "clean" me out before I found one I can keep down!  A lot of wasted money...hope it doesn't happen with optifast.

Way to go...your surgery will be here before you know it!

Oh the dreaded 'Optitrots'. Quite normal. It may only last a day or two hopefully. Keep up the good work.

Very exciting! I had poop issues during optifast as well. Now post-op, I have to take Restoralax everyday or I wont ever go.

Glad you got the call for the PAATS.  It will go so quickly now.  What time is your appointment?  I have to be there for 11:00 as my surgery is at 2.  Maybe I'll run into you.
I found during Optifast that the hunger goes away pretty quickly and I ended up liking the chicken broth.  You'll do great Beth!!

I was thinking the same about the strawberry juice.

Beth - I wouldn't be using any fruit juice to sweeten or flavour your Optifast. Use Crystal Light or extracts or sf syrups.
