OT hydromorphone and GBS

Has anyone taking this pain medication? I have been on percs for my knee replacement surgery but I am getting a lot of rashes and think that I may be sensitive to them now. It has been suggested that this hydromorphone would be a great alternate (not as addictive).

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Linda

hydromorph is a form of morphine. When taken for pain it is not usualy addictive but like all narcotics your body can get used to them. It is a good medication. I would speak to your pharmacist. They can suggest alternatives for you that would give you the same level of pain control as the percs.

I know a couple of people who have had knee replacement surgery and used this med after surgery.  They were fine with it.  I'd rather take it than the percs any day.

It's a form of morphine so you may not want to take it if that family of drugs makes you break out in a rash or itch.
Tramacet may be a good alternative for you to try. I used it after my car accident for pain control and it worked well.

My mother is presently taking this and have been for the last year prior to her surgery for knee replacement in June.  She feels that this helps greatly with the pain and the doctors has let her keep it upto until the next surgery, which will be in Sept for the other knee.
