When did you start feeling normal again?
I know it's different for everyone... But i was just wondering when people started to feel normal again. Honestly, I have nausea but it'snot bad enough to actually cause me to throw up... but just enough to make me not want to eat. All I want to do is start trying new foods and making it work for me.. I know I'm only two and a half weeks post op but i think part of me thought... I'm so young~ this is going to be so easy for me :D... lol well i knew it would be difficult but i thought It would be alittle better than what I feel right now. Right now looking at sports drinks and protien drinks and pudding and jello and yogurt and everything else... even water sometimes.. just makes me want to gag (or actually gag)... I don't want anything I'm allowed to eat and I want everything I'm not allowed to eat. (although i would never even test those waters at this point) It's kinda depressing. I just need to see some sort of light at the end of the tunnel lol.
Hi Marlene. I am still concerned about you being dehydrated, even if the hospital said no. I know how you feel right now about what we're allowed to have - I also don't feel like consuming liquids and soft foods. I am forcing myself to get the nutrients I need to get me to solid food days. If you continue to feel horrible keep in contact with your doctor.
Thanks Jennifer :) I appreciate the concern. I plan to call me surgeon and dietitian tomorrow. Luckily the hospital gave me a record of the bloodwork so I can tell them about it if they have any questions too. Tonight Imma attempt some chicken broth... wooo~ lol. Keep me posted on how you're doing as well I'd like to know :)
unfortunately it might be a bit of a vicious cycle. Dehydration in itself can cause nausea and of course weakness and headache. This makes you not feel like eating/drinking so the cyle continues. My suggestion would be to go back to the med cups they give you 30 cc which is one once and have one every 5 min. That way in an hr. you are getting 360cc. You have to be constantly sipping. I think once you are better hydrated some of the nausea may subside. Unfortunately you can not wait until you feel like it that will not work. Always have something with you even beside you bed when you are sleeping. If you wake up for a few minutes sip and then go back to sleep. If you really can't do then you need to let your bariatric team know ASAP before you run into major complications!!!
I'm pretty much the same time post op as you.. this coming thursday will be 3 weeks..And I feel pretty normal..I get sick feeling sometimes but its usually because I drank or ate too fast.. but other then that I feel pretty good..

I had nausea as well - I took Adult Chewable Gravol which *really* helped. What I also learned was that if I wasn't drinking enough (whether it was water or my protein shakes) I became more nauseous. Kind of a catch-22 isn't it. Keep sipping constantly and try the Gravol if you want. This is what worked for me.
