There was a message on our phone with an orientation date asking for me to phone back and confirrm my attendance.  When I mentioned to hubby that it was odd I didn't get anything in the mail he spoke up and said well something did come in the mail for you about a week ago.  He checked the mail and brought everything downstairs and forgot about it on his desk.  I was too excited to be upset.  Once you go to orientation and get your dates it really makes this journey real.  Good Luck - Oh mine came in a regular sized envelope.

I got a phone call first as it was during the postal strike back in the summer.  But when the envelope did arrive (from Toronto Western) it was in a small white envelope.

I have reached my goal weight ..... and LOVE my RNY !!!!!!!!!

I went through HRRH.  I got a phone call on a Thursday, asking if I could come to the session on the following Monday.  They sent all the information to me late on Friday afternoon by email.  Talk about cutting it close.  It is possible that there were some cancellations and they were just trying to fit people in... but it felt very disorganized to me.  Not complaining though... from orientation date to surgery was only 6 months.

I received a large brown envelope with several pages in it.  The covering letter told me about the orientation sessions that were planned and asked me to call the Ottawa WMC to let them know which session I was interested in attending (with two back-up dates).   When I called, all the sessions listed (about 10) were already full.  They added on additional dates and gave them to me over the phone, so I selected April 1st.

It was great to know things were progressing.

in august 2009, i saw my family doctor for a referal for WLS.
in december, i hit my highest weight of 318 pounds. i decided to try (for the millionth time) to diet and exercise. i went on a no-carb diet and ate just chicken, fish, eggs and veggies for 4 months. i worked out at the gym twice a day, 5 days a week. i managed to lose about 45 pounds, which was the most i'd ever lost on my own (in 12 years of dieting). then, my weight loss stopped and i started putting weight back on.

at this point (in may 2010), it had been about 8 or 9 months since i saw my doctor for a referal. he had closed down his practice, so i couldn't even get a hold of him to touch base on where i stood with the referal. i was pretty sure that he never even sent it in. i had given up hope and decided that maybe i was just destined to be fat forever. literally, LITERALLY, the next day, i got a call from windsor, asking me if i was still interested in WLS. i could not believe it. i had given up hope on weight loss, on surgery, and then i get this phone call. i can't tell you how i felt.. it was like it was fate.

Hi Brenda
A few years ago our approvals for surgery would come by Purolator. Every purolator that went by would cause breathing to stop. I even got an "electronic signature" so they could drop off the letter if I wasn't home.
