Giving up Coffee? OMG

Now, I should mention that I generally find coffee bitter and my archilles heel is the sugar I put in it... my usual coffee at Timmy's for example is 2 milk 2 sugar.
Since meeting with the nutritionist, I have set a goal to either eliminate coffee from my diet -or- eliminate the sugar that I put in it...and since coffee and the sugar are married in my mind, I can't see a way out...
Eeek! Has anyone else tried to give up coffee? Or has anyone used Stevia instead of sugar and found that an adequate substitute?
Curiously yours,

Hi my name is Myke and I have a coffee problem...
I learned to drink decaf coffee and am known at my local Starbucks as "decaf tall nonfat latte" or "iced decaf tall nonfat latte" in the summer...
The lattes give you the added nutrition of the skim milk, a little extra calcium and protein...if it's a particularly bitter shot, I may add Splenda.

This year, in preparation for wls, I cut back to one cup per day, well, most of the time. The surgery is in November, so last week I switched to one cup of tea in the morning in place of my coffee for less than 1/2 the caffeine. I also find I don't quite drink to the last drop, like I do with coffee.
This week I managed to skip the tea, so I'm drinking water only. No caffeine withdrawals at all! If I had noticed any symptoms when I switched to tea, I probably would have added an intermediary step of using half decaf coffee, or something like that.
My big problem with coffee isn't the sweetening, it's the cream. I hate it with milk, so I preferred to switch right to tea, which I like with 1% milk (and no sweetener).
Good luck with the changes!

Toni, I've never been a coffee drinker but I drink 3-4 strong cups of tea each day & I always used powdered creamer & sugar in it. I switched to decaf tea with no difference in flavour & used Splenda instead of sugar. I've cut way back on my creamer & am trying to give it up as well, but haven't yet. Try switching to decaf coffee & Splenda & that should help you a bit.

Good luck kicking the coffee addiction! It's worth it for WLS.
