I use Jamieson Mega Cal calcium soft chews. I buy them at Cosco. They have a large size container and is much cheaper than at a pharmacy.

Aren't those mostly calcium carbonate?  We don't absorb carbonate well, need a citrate-first calcium.

They are actually elemental calcium so they have about 4 different kinds of calcium.  I think it was Nanpet that said HRRH okay'd these ones as well.

I called Jamieson and asked them about their chews, they told me the amount of calcium citrate they contained was very minimal.

I take Citrical Petites and get them at the Metro by me in the pharmacy there (cheaper than Shoppers).

I was label reading today looking at the different products containing calcium carbonate, calcium citrate and some that are a combination of different types of calcium.

I'm currently using Life Brand Calcium Citrate (no vit d).  I think Rexall's brand has one too.  You do have to read labels carefully.  Most calcium is Carbonate.  I don't know about chewables as I do not use them.

Good luck!

At TWH yesterday the dietitian said to only buy the calcium citrate ones and not the carbonate ones because of the lack to absorption we will have post surgery.
