Administrative Mishap

Ok, I'm starting to wonder about the Administrative side of things at TWH...

I just found out that they accidentally deleted my last appointment...so according to their computer, it looks like I never finished my last appointment requried before surgical consult.

Then we discovered that they have recorded my birthdate wrong in their system and my blue hospital card is wrong as well....I suppose I should've checked that when they gave it to me.

Administratively speaking, **** happens, I know that... but I sure hope the skill of their surgeons outweight the "mishaps" in their office... (don't worry, I believe they do or I wouldn't be here.)

Hoping to hear back in the next day or two now...

Again... when there is nothing else you can do - I guess all there is left is to Laugh...

OMG - Good thing you called when you did. I never had bad experiences like that with TWH but it must be discouraging. I waited 2 weeks to get my appointment with the surgeon after my last appointment. Keep calling - hope things speed up for you soon.

Referral - Sept.23.2010, Orientation - June 8.2010, Nurse&S.W. - July 28.2011, Nutrition Class - Aug.2.2011, Nutritionist - Sept.13.2011, Psych - Sept.15.2011, Surgeon - Oct.21.2011, Surgery - November 1, 2011.

Last time i went for my appt at HRRH, they said "oh, this is your second appt after surgery?" i said, nope.. "been here a bunch of times. I can look in my book if you need to know"

Turns out, there's someone with my exact name (different middle name), and, i would assume, different birthday too. Maybe that's the problem?

Thankfully they don't have a lot of Toni's....but they did think my birthday was in April, and it's not. I don't know...I think they have a lot of new staff.... I miss Patrice! I finally got her on the phone today, so things should be corrected soon with her on the case...

I too have been having a lot of trouble with scheduling at TWH. I am in the Soo 6 + hours from Toronto. They have called and attempted to change my appointments on me. Twice I have called back explaining that I have booked airfare and hotels for my stay in Toronto.

I get the distinct impression that the staff doesn't give a damn.

I sort of feel like they are taking advantage of our obesity and our desire to get surgery sooner rather than later.

Needless to say I am fed up. So I emailed the office of the Ombudsman ([email protected]) at TWH to complain. I hope they take my concerns seriously.

I also think that some of them don't really comprehend just how far north we are....we measure distanct in "time" up here... not kilometers.

They have a new admin person at TWH and she is making many mistakes. The old staff, Patrice, was amazing and very courteous and supportive about the whole appointment process.
The new staff is much younger, so I get the feeling that she may not take her job as seriously as the fomer admin person did. She may also just be operating on a learning curve and get more organized and on top of her job as she learns it better. Hopefully this is the case.
