I have a blender that is able to handle ice cubes and pureeing. I think it is a Hamilton, a pretty basic model. As for protein shakes I make my own. I have used the protein powder from walmart, I think they have 2 different brands, I have used both and they taste fine to me. I think one of them is on sale right now as a matter of fact. Also if you go to a store chain called Popeye's Supplements (google it to find their web site and locations) they have a lot of different protein powders and can direct you to one that is most appropriate. Not all protein powders are the same, some are more like meal replacements and others are for post workout.

I have a bullet and the only thing I use it for now is making coconut butter.  I much prefer my Ninja, I have the one that comes with 3 bowls.  They are always on sale at Canadian Tire.

I like the immersion blender for shakes, pureeing soups, etc, . The cleanup is quick and easy.

I like my blender for anything with ice. The magic bullet is ok, but cheaply made.
