TWH'rs: Optifast - Can I request how much of each?

Hi there,

I was wondering if at my surgeon's appointment I can request 2/3 vanilla Opti and 1/3 chocolate?

I can think of a bazillion things to do with the vanilla to change up the flavour, (I am excited to mix it up with my DaVinci SF Chai flavoured syrup) but I don't think I would enjoy the chocolate as much...maybe the chocolate with DaVinci SF Hazelnut or SF Caramel syrup...

I'm pretty sure you can Toni! I remember them saying that at the Nutrition Class - you could get 3 weeks of chocolate, or 3 weeks of vanilla, or 2 weeks of 1 and 1 week of the other......etc. etc.

Me personally I think I am doing an equal split.

 Hey Toni and Pinkjelly (sorry dont know your actual name, haha!)  Are we all meeting Dr jackson on dec 2nd??  I thought the appt's would be at least an hour but I guess they arent since my appt is at 9:30 and someone else's is at 9 ! I hope TWH isnt fudging up again!

I hope TWH isnt fudging up again!   Hey girl!  My appointment is at 1030 so I'm not sure how they plan them but it was fairly busy when I was there last Friday and as soon as the squabble over my appointment began they just move right on to the next person.  I'll probably get there around 10:10-10:15 and you'll probably still be waiting I bet!   I believe Dr. Jackson is very patient and takes his time answering questions. 

Oh I also am not sure if they technically usually do a 10:30 appointment like mine...I believe they just made it up at the end of his appointments that day because I was creating such a fuss...who knows.

 Good question, and I'm pretty sure you get to pick. If you wanted to get all vanilla you could do that. I had also asked in the class if you get to pick how much you can order too... Maybe I'm weird but I actually want to be on opifast for 3 weeks where as I'm only "recommended" for 2. But its good because they said that they really encourage you to lose as much weight as possible so if you want to get more then you can.

I had requested 2/3 of chocolate and 1/3 of vanilla.  I ended up with 3 boxes of chocolate and 1 box of vanilla.  I am on Optifast for 2 weeks.

Now that I have been on for a week, i think i would have requested half and half.  I am enjoying the vanilla with strawberry, and banana crystal lite.

 Re: seeing the surgeon on Dec.2, when I went there they booked several patients within a tight time frame.  The nurse weighs you and puts you in a room.  I think they took my blood pressure or something like that (embarrassing that I can't remember and it was only on Nov.4).  They give you a clipboard with some papers to fill out.   They tell you the doc will see you, then the nurse will come back and order the optfast with you.  I waited about an hour and a half until the doctor came to see me, but I didn't mind because he spent 45 minutes with me answering my questions.  Not everyone will get to actually see Dr. Jackson, even if you are booked with him.  Some will see his "fellow" (like a surgical resident instead).

The nurse will ask you how you want to order your opti, but I believe it comes in standard 1 week boxes, so you can't split  flavours wihtin a week unless you want to buy extra.  

 It really depends on what surgeon and where your surgeon is located. I didnt have a choice and had to get half chocolate and half vanilla but I was given the option for more vanilla because most people want chocolate. I would just call the surgeons office and ask.
