As of today, I am down 27.6lbs - and so I thought I go and see if one of my favourite Bomber style baby blue ski jacket fits... it's practically brand new, and yep... it fits nicely. Yay !

And now to my question... swelling. I'm only 8 days post-op, and with the regular release of gas I have noticed my belly has gone down a lot...but around the incision areas there seems to be some swelling.

Nothing looks infected, my incisions look great...I just noticed tenderness on the left side between the two incisions...but its the swelling I wonder about. How long did it take for your swelling to go down?

My left side was far more tender than the right and I asked my clinic why.  Apparently most of the work is done on the left side so basically it was beat up a hell of a lot more than the right.  I never noticed any swelling but it was more tender for me.

Thanks for the explanation Tracey, I appreciate it... it makes sense now! My swelling and discomfort is mostly on the left side...but if they were mucking around on that side more than anywhere else, well that totally makes sense... just takes time to heal.

Hi there

You are doing great so far. Keep up the good work

As for the swelling, it sounds normal, as long as there is no reddening or oozing. It takes some time for things to go back to normal

Take care

Yeah, they're right - the incisions are "angry" but that will calm down in a couple of days. Took me about 10 days to settle down.you - but it sounds like it's not that extreme.

I did find, however, because I was allergic to heparin, that my injection sites got EXTREMELY itchy and red. My whole belly was one angry red weal. Hope that isn't happening to

Chalk it up to internal bruising.  Things got pushed around a lot in there, and they're tender.  Give it a few more days and things should start to feel better.

That's great Toni. I'm five days out. My belly is distended and am bruised where some of the incisions. Contests on your weight loss. And nsv. I'm sort of down cause have not lost any surgery related weight.

 Hi Toni,

Big congratuations on your loss of 27.6 lbs. That is terrific!! We shared a room at TWH.  I am only down 14.6 lbs. but I am okay with that.  I have some swelling around the incision areas as well.  Initially, my left side was the worst for pain but today my right side hurts more.  It almost feels like I pulled a muscle or more likely have a gas bubble locked up.

By the way, how was your drive back to Markstay?  I know my drive back to Scarborough on Sunday was a bit painful.  I swear I felt every bump on the road, then was sick most of the day. I actually vomited twice, took a gravol and have been fine since.

Take Care,
Sherry
