The danger of excess skin.....

So last night I was cooking salmon for my family.  It was on a baking sheet in the oven, under the broiler.  I was wearing oven mitts, but (unbeknownst to me), they had a hole in them near one of my fingers.  As you have probably already guessed, my finger began to burn, and being in a rush to put down the pan, I was unaware of my "muffin top" of excess skin that was sticking precariously out of my top.  The pan bumped against this skin and literally branded me with a long line from my belly button, half way to my side.  OWWWW!!!

Lesson learned....always be aware of your jiggly bits, cause you never know when they'll be in the way!  I wonder if this experience will lead OHIP to let me have plastics?!  I think this qualifies as interference with daily life, and danger to my personal safety!  hahaha.

PS......Karen, I now know your pain (although less severe), and have learned my lesson.  :)

Hi There Marny, sorry to hear your burned yourself .... however, this kinda of gave me a chuckle as this is totally something I would do.  I haven't had surgery yet ....  but when I do .... I will keep this in mind.

Even if it isn't that severe, it would be a good idea to see your doctor and have him document what happened. Then when you apply for panni removal it is a part fo your file.

Unfortunately/fortunately, besides a bit of a "muffin top", the skin on my tunny isn't all that bad.  It doesn't hang too low, or affect my walking, or give me rashes/infections.  I doubt OHIP would ever kick in the $$ for a panni removal for me.  :(

I've done the same thing prior to having my arms done. I burnt the "jiggly" part of my arm a few times.
