New to site

Can anyone tell me why Guelph seems to be so slow?  Is it possible to request a transfer to TWH? 
 

I'm not sure why they are so slow. And yes, it's possible to change to TWH. I'm not sure of the process how to do it but people have done it

I'm sorry I can't help you about the transfer. Ottawa offered to transfer me to HRH.

What is your definition of slow? Are you new to the process or was your referral sent in months ago? Its a fairly slow process for everyone no matter which centre they are involved with.

Be patient. Your time will come and the wait is worth it. Educate yourself and learn all you can in the process.

Thanks everyone for your comments!  My referral was last May and my orientation isn't until September of this year.   I know, I must be patient...just frustrating is all.

All the waiting is really frustrating, you're right.  Perhaps speak to someone at your centre about the possibility of transferring, if that's what you're interested in?

Are you on a cancellation list?
Sometimes people cancel and they try to fill the spots. If I were you, I would call them. Tell them you want to be a cancellation list and/or even just inquire if there is an orientation session coming up that they can get you into sooner then September.

Let me get this straight.....

Your referral was put in in May 2011 and you wont have your first orientation meeting until September of 2012?

If that is correct then something is definately not right. It may be time to start making some calls.

 Guelph is so slow they might as well be rinning backwards.... my referral was in July 2010 and I just got the call yesterday for the pre op class.. Audrey says surgery "around" June

I know it is frustrating..... Once we finally make the decision - then we have to wait! Argh! 

Make sure you call in to ensure that you are on the cancellation list, at every step of the way.  My journey in Hamilton, although the beginning part was a long time to orientation, has gone by incredibly fast.  Orientation was in October 2011, my first appts were Feb 1 and I am seeing the surgeon on Mar 13.  Everything else happened inbetween, and I kept asking to be put on the waiting lists and got calls for everything much sooner than the original scheduled dates.  Just a word of wisdom.....
