OT my husband doesn't believe in Costco...
Aside from what everyone else has mentioned, anytime i need a dessert, or salad, etc for a pot luck or whatever i go to Costco. If you wear glasses, go to Costco. Propane for the bbq...best deal in town. I saw a documentary once on the company (and compared it to Wal-mart) and know people who work there and it appears to be a very ethical company that treats their staff extremely well.
My only problem is that I can't go in without leaving with $50 worth of cheese.

I figured it out and the savings on bags of milk alone over 1 year would cover the cost of the membership. The problem is that I live in a small town and to drive to a costco would be about 30-45 minutes so it's not like I'd be going often enough. You have to take that into consideration as well besides the membership price, if you live close to one, how often you'd go etc. Your time is valuable, gas is expensive. Living in Oshawa you might be fairly close to one but for me I don't drive all over just to shop.
I have had a membership for years! Apart from all of the wonderful prices mentioned previously, I love the Costco pharmacy. The prescriptions are cheaper there than anywhere I have looked and the filling fee is under $5.00. I have never had a problem there at all for scripts. They take insurance plans just like any other pharmacy.

You can buy a new husband at Costco - lol they have everything.
Between protein shakes, proferrin, multis, vit D, toilet paper, individual frozen fish filets like tilapia loins and wilds salmon and greek yogurt and cheese and and I save a lot and I am single.
I share a membership with my 81 year old motherwho is in Windsor and I am in Mississauga. If you are single you can add someone to your membership. If your husband never intends to go in his own name then go in with someone else who is also single. Just don't tell them you are married, My mom's picture is on her card and mine is on my card. My dad was alive when we first joined but never went in without my mom as he could no longer drive.
I will not give mine up.

Well, I am sort of in the middle of agreeing with both of you. If you don't go often enough or don't make enough purchases or if the location is far away, then the membership fee isn't worth it.
Costco doesn't always sell stuff cheaper. So do some price comparisons of the things that you do buy. There are only a few things that I get from Costco: greek yogurt, eggs, milk, Jamieson Calcium supplements, carrots, fuji apples when they're in season, sandwich meat, wholegrain crackers, ...
May wanna go with a friend and see. If you get something that your husband likes, that may change his mind about it. But yeah, membership is only worth it if you use it on items that are cheaper than where you'll get elsewhere.
