Hi...just wondering if anyone has tried this Body Bugg thing? Apparently it was featured on the biggest loser...but i have to admit i have never watched the show.

There are SO many fitness gadgets out there...I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what was so special about this one?

From what I can tell, it calculates exactly how many calories you burn....keeps track of your heart rate and I think it also functions like a pedometer?

Just wondering if anyone on OH has heard of it...used it?

Here's the candian website, if you want to see what I am talking about:

I have the Body Media version which I think is exactly the same. I think it is even made by the same company but has different software. When I bought mine Body Bugg was not offered in Canada but Body Media was. Also the research that I had done was the that Body Media software was more user friendly. I really love mine and where it 24/7. It tracks calories burned, you can log your food, it tracks steps, your weight, how long and at what intensity you exercised, it tracks how long you slept and the quality of your sleep. Mine does not track heart rate though but it can upload data from some of the Garmin brand heart rate monitors. I think they are very much worth the investment!

Can you send me a link to where I can view it? Or buy it? Where did you buy yours?

thanks for the insight... I have been reading about both online, and I think the body media one is the better option for sure!

Oh I forgot to tell you that I had talked to a kinesiologist at McMaster University about these devices. She had done a trial of them and thought that they were taking a very accurate measurement of calories burned etc. I felt better about buying one after she said that because so many of these devices you really wonder how well they work.

I have the body media one and as a previous poster said its the same company as the body bug. I absolutely love mine and once I get through the process I'll definately be deactivating my account. What is great about it Toni, is as an iPhone or android user, you can sync it via your phone and track you calories like one would on myfitnesspal.

I'm thinking about buying a garmin heart rate monitor as it can upload to the body media web site. Do you have one of those? The body media that I have is an older model and doesn't sync to the phone but that was not a feature that I was interested in but I can see if you used your phone a lot that it would be helpful to be able to track your calories immediately. As it is I am on the computer at work all day practically or I have my tablet so can access the site pretty much all the time anyway.

Yep, I am definitely interested.... and it helps to know REAL people out there that have used them  before you plunk down your cash.
