Back 2 Work = Back 2 Reality
I'm SO glad that I took the time off that I did (8 weeks) but alas, all good things must come to an end. I went back to work this week and energy-wise, I was pretty good. I think my biggest hurdle was getting up so early in the morning... because for the last 2 months I've been sleeping until 8am... I had forgotten how rude the sound of an alarm clock is.

The other hurdle seems to be my mental alertness... I don't know if alertness is the right word, but I used to be MUCH quicker...mentally speaking... it's like my brain needs a reboot or something...Anyone else experience this?

I added a post to my blog tonight (you gotta check out my new design, its awesome!), more or less giving the low-down on my first week back to work... but for the most part, it went pretty good. And like I said, I survived!
NSV - Yesterday the lady at my local post-office told me I look great!
NSV - Today I actually FELT like I looked pretty good... this is major because its been so long since I felt that way when I looked in the mirror...
Don't get me wrong, I'm still a work-in-progress, but I am slowly starting to feel more comfortable with the person I see in the mirror... it's funny... because I catch myself looking in the mirror a lot more than I used to.

And today I was able to confirm that I am transferring to the Sudbury Bariatric Clinic... I will actually be their very FIRST Post-op patient... becauce their clinic is so new, they haven't had anyone in their clinic go through and actually have the surgery yet... so I get to be their first... kinda cool... but kinda scary too... I hope these folks are on their toes... 'cause what if I've got questions? LMAO!!! I will just come on here and post my questions ofcourse....LOL!!!
Sudbury Clinic isn't set up with monthly support meetings yet, but I plan to kick start that notion when they accept me into the fold... who knows, maybe I can volunteer to get it started or something.... I will keep you posted.
Ok... well that's enough babble for one day eh?!? Happy Friday Folks!!!

Hey..
We have a support group that meets the second thurs of every month at the library downtown..
It was started just by a few that have had surgery, and it out grew their homes.. lol
I believe the sudbury clinic has been given the info about our meetings but i'm not sure if they are handing it out yet..
If you caught the news segment about surgery (a week or so ago) that was our group :)
We also have a facebook page.. " Sudbury District Bariatric Support Group "

I am currently waiting to hear if I have been accepted to transfer to the Sudbury Bariatric Centre. I hope to get good news as you did. I share your concerns though regarding the experience of the staff having not yet dealt with any post surgery patients. However, not having to drive 10 hours to go to appointments outweighs that concern. This site is useful and I will post here if experience is required- IF I am able to transfer.
Regarding support meetings at the Sudbury Centre I asked about this when I spoke to Lynn at the centre over a month ago when I called to inquire about the possibility of transferring. Lynn actually said there was no in-house support group and then asked "Why would patients need one? They get everything they need with us- we have a nurse, doctor, dietician, physiotherapist..." I was shocked by this statement! I responded that it could be helpful to talk to others in the same situation. She then responded that no-one has ever asked for this before and this is the first she's ever heard of it. Don't get me wrong--she was very nice and was genuinely surprised at my request. Lynn did mention someone had contacted her about a support group but she wasn't sure where she put the info and she had a meeting to get to.
I later looked online and found the Sudbury Bariatric Support Group. I spoke to the co-ordinator about their next scheduled meeting earlier today. She advised that it will be at the new l'ecole St. Denis (across the street from Lily Creek/James Jerome Sport Complex she stated they just got approved for this location) on April 12 from 6-8:30pm. Her number is the contact on the Facebook site so you can find it there or PM me and I will send it to you if you are interested.
I am glad there is a support group and am looking forward to the next meeting. However, I am also open to meeting as suggested by hannelini (sp) and if I am transferred to Sudbury I would love to assist in establishing meetings there as well.
Sorry for the long post- I had a lot to say!!
