Wound care
I would not want to drive airborne pathogens en masse onto a fresh wound. Use sterile gauze to wick away any moisture from the sides. You can get a home care nurse to visit you if you qualifty, for best practices wound management. I had quite a bit of draining from mine. This went on for a good week.
Very good point re. the hairdryer. Not sure why the OP doesn't just buy some steri strips and cover 'em back up.

I was given little information as well but I did get a pamphlet in the pre-admin testing that applied to aftercare. I was at TWH btw.
It basically said that the bandages would fall off by day 5-7 and if they hadn't take them off yourself. Then keep them clean and dry.
The outer incision is glued but there are dissolving stitches underneath.
Hope that helps and happy healing!

I was glued from side to side after my tummy tuck. Post op instructions were to shower daily and dry the area thoroughly with a clean towel. Cover with a dressing to avoid anything rubbing on the area. The glue will come off on it's own after a week or two.
The glued incisions usually heal very nicely. My scar is hardly visible any more.

I left the hospital yesterday. TWH Centre....they told me to leave the gauze on for 5 days and then take them off. everything would disappear on its own. He told me I could shower but try not to get the incisions too wet. I used saran. they got wet a bit but weren't soaked. Everything is good and dry. good luck
In general if the incision is clean and dry...shower and towel dry and do not cover with anything (not bandages, steristrips or anything) and do not use a hair dryer ....let the air get to them...helps healing ....i am a nurse and do profess to be one. After about 2-3 weeks when i knew things were healing well i started using body lotion after my shower everyday to hydrate. The only time you really need to do "wound care" is when it is not healing normally and then you should see someone at your centre or family doctor for proper directions.
Dave, I had surgery on the 20th....they told me that they would fall off on their own. However after 7-10 I could remove anything remaining. ....and yes they glued us back together! lol Just keep them clean and I recommend some moisture.... I'm using Avene Cicalfate cream & their mineral water spray, but you could ask a pharmacist or skin specialist. You can also use Bio-oil to reduce any scaring if you want. The surgeon also told me to use baby oil to get rid of the nasty sticky tape residue!
Good Luck!
