Welcome as well. I had my surgery last Wednesday in Ottawa. When I went for my orientation they were saying 8-9 months wait before you hear anything.

Already being a patient of Dr. Dent or Dr. Wicklum does speed up the process I think. It did for me.

had my orientation aug 19th 2011 ,,,,,,didnt hear nothing til end of april , had my nurse appointment may 7th and blood work ,,,,,now booked for 2 video confrence on june 27th ,,,june 18th for a pelvic ultrasound and booked to see the shrink aug 2nd ,,not sure what the video confrences are but i think behaviour and nutritionalist ?

I can totally sympathize. You could call and get a feel for when you might expect to hear something. I have done that - keeping in mind that they probably get tons of calls like that - and I was careful not to come across as aggressive, despite the fact that I was frustrated. I found that sometimes they could give me a ballpark idea of when things might start moving, or even just calling to make sure they had me on the list was reassuring sometimes. The wait in Ottawa is a long one, but you'll hear from them before you know it. Hang in there!!

What's the worst that could happen if you call? They'll probably tell you that they can't tell you anything. So you're out thirty seconds of your time. I found the staff at the WMC to be very friendly, so I don't think they will get upset with you. Go ahead, what have you got to lose? It's like I tell my son, "If you don't ask, you won't know."

Jun. 2011 -- Sleep apnea test Mar. 2012 -- Follow-up with Dr. Dent
Jun. 2011 -- General orientation session Apr. 2012 -- Follow-up with Nutrionist

I phoned yesterday and they called me back today! She said they are now calling people from the July '11 orientation to meet with behaviourist and nutristionists... so it looks like I have a while- I'm guessing I may hear from them in Oct-Nov-Dec...well it would be a great way to start off the new year of 2013- here is to keeping positive and looking forward to be on this WLS train with you all!!

I'm one of those from the July '11 orientation. I've already had my appointments with the behaviourist and dietitian. It was 9 months from orientation to first appointment. My timeline is at the bottom.

Now I have about a 3 month wait before I have my education class/meet the surgeon. You really do need patience on this journey.

I think Ottawa is still averaging about 15-18months from referral to surgery.

Good luck, though. Sometimes the wait can be the most frustrating part of the whole journey. My only advice is to try not to let it bug you. I got really busy and eventually put it in the back of my mind after I had already got all the information I wanted.

cheeky_monkey and I am on a similar time line. It doesn't hurt to call to see, but the wait seems to be 'set in stone' - after you get to the nutritionist and behaviourist it may speed up.
