I just had a look at the pics in your profile and can't tell you strongly enough that you should never, ever let anyone get you in a funk. You have done an incredible job at morphing into a whole new person. What dedication, hard work, and determination. Love the elevator people. As for the neighbour - she 'toopid!'

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora. Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.

I also took into consideration, after the fact, that english was not this person's first language. With French being my first language, I know how difficult it is to be tactful when trying to think of the appropriate english term.

Not One Too Many

I was never thin; but there was a much thinner and active period of my life.(late teens, early 20's)
I had gone a long time without seeing a childhood best friend of mine, and went to vist her one day. I had gained about 10 pounds since the last time I had seen her and her mom; and her mom (very greek, and very much Greek as her first language) said to me "You fat now, eh?"

I had to take it in stride, cause she never meant anything offensive by it, but her daughter (my friend) was mortified for me, and I felt bad about it too....
I often chuckle and think back to that encounter, wondering what she'd say about it now....

But no question, these comments can take us by surprise and hit a sore spot, can't they?

People who say hard, harsh words to bring others down may look slight in stature but really they're missing something in their life and require others to feel the same way. You are a confident woman and look great. You handled the situation fantastic. Good for you.
