I am so sad for you that this thoughtless person was able to make you feel as though all your hard work was in vain and that she made you feel like a "fat girl" again! I cannot believe the things that come out of some peoples' mouths - do they truly not realize how hurtful & mean-spirited their words are or do they know & just not care? In her case it's pretty ironic that she is not exactly a tiny little person herself - you'd think she'd realize how much those types of words can hurt someone. I'm so sorry that she caused you to sink into a funk.
Thank goodness for those wonderful folks on the elevator whose kind and heartfelt words gave you back your esteem and your sense of self-worth. How lovely that they spoke up and told you how much they admired you for what you have accomplished. You have come so far and I always see you as a real inspiration. I also admire the fact that you are always willing to share your extensive knowledge of our bodies' iron needs and you are able to explain it in ways that we can understand.
You have so much to be proud of Leona - don't let someone like that thoughtless woman get to you and make you question yourself and your worth. You have come a very long way and deserve all the accolades that come your way. We will always be here to offer support for you!!!!

..my mother is one of those individuals, always talking about the nieghbours "big daughter"....it used to be "as big as you" or "big like you"...mind you she's 83...so maybe there are allowances for people that age.
Growing up I heard it "you have such a lovely face if only you would lose a few lbs"...etc etc.
your last line sums it up..you did this for YOU...not for the clods out there with the big mouths that don't know when to keep their ridness to themselves.
bask in your accomplishments...and know that you know what RESPECT is~!
prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.
