I wanted to share my purchase with everyone! I LOVE shopping and all!

I went on the search for a long WARM winter coat. I'll be honest I froze my @ss off the last 3 winters since shedding all my insulation. So I wanted a LONG down filled coat. I went into Sports check on a mission! Warmth! Warmth is what I found, but only in amazement!

Have any of you heard of omi-heat by Columbia? This new invention is a miracle! It uses your own body heat to keep you warm! It's a light weight jacket (like a spring jacket) that will keep you warmer then a huge puffy down coat! I was skeptical until I wore the coat around the store for a few mins (I was SO HOT it was almost uncomfortable!) I thought okay- lets really try it out! I wore it out last night in the RAIN and cold to teick or treat and I was DRY and Warm! This is the coat here! I also bought a pair of omni heat gloves! Best purchase this year!!!

Sounds great. I still want to lose some weight so went on a search for a down cheap coat. I got one on the Lands end site for $60.00. Much of my weight is still in my stomach and hips so although I weight about 178 I wear a size 18. I didn't want a coat that would be huge next year.

Thanks for the post, $140 is very reasonable too for a Columbia winter jacket....I already bought my winter jacket but I'll go check for the gloves...ty

oh poo - I too hit the Sports Check in search of the worlds warmest coat.  I got a great Columbia but it's not the omi-heat.  Sure wish I had found that one first.  I still love my coat and so far so good with staying warm but we're no where close to cold winter temps yet (that'll be the true test eh.)  Thanks for the info though, might head over to see if they make omi-heat pants, sweaters, under pants, socks, etc...lol

THIS IS GREAT THANK YOU!
I would like a full body suit!
Last winter I bought (actually Mom bought for Christmas) an long sleeved shirt made by Ice Breaker. It is made of Merino Wool, Not itchy at all nice and soft and warm. I wear it as a base layer. As well I like the Merino wool socks. I am going for long underware this year.
And with a coat like yours I should be all set.!

Sport Chek also sells basewear that is basically underwear (they charge more if they call it basewear) that is omni heat reflective clothing. So warm!  Maybe too warm for lots of days but you can always strip it off (just wait til you're off the subway)!  Its expensive but all this high tech sweat wicking warmth reflective space age thermal water repellent fabric stuff is!  I had to replace my XXXL Spyder ski jacket with a size large Columbia triple layer (including the omni heat layer)!  Can't wait to use it on the slopes, I am tingling to get on regular sized skiis (my old ones were super wide so I wouldn't sink in the snow so badly but it made them hard to turn) and this coat!  kiss

OMG I am so looking forward to being able to go skiing again!! Since I put on this weight plus my knee problems I haven't been able to do it. ( I used to teach at a local hill here in London) Won't be this year but, next year for sure!

The warmest and best purchase I made last year was cashmere PJ!!!! I live in them, although indoors!LOL I have been known to wear them in the morning while driving my daughter Talia to swimming at 5:30 am,
The only downfall,is that you must handwash them. i bought them at the Bay on sale. They are the Hudson's Northern collection. They also had bathrobes.
Have a warm wonderful day!
