Completely Fallen

Congratulations on taking the first step in recognizing and proclaiming your powerlessness over food. Hi, my name is Sunnydaz and I am a food addict.
Please take one day at a time. If there are things that you do not need to live with - like chocolate, chips, or any other food item that you know you should not eat, you can add them to your DO NOT HAVE IN THE HOUSE OR ANYWHERE ELSE list.
You may wish to consider attending a local Overeaters Anonymous meeting.
Good luck in overcoming this immediate life challenge. You can do it
Judy
are you depressed? maybe make an appointment with your family doctor and talk to him/her about what's going on in your life.
hugs. No beating up going on here. You know you've got to get this under control. Have you thought of doing the 5day pouch test (i don't believe it shrinks your pouch or anything like that, but it does give you something strict to follow to try to get carbs out of your life, and put you back in control again)
Keep up your exercise, if you can manage that. Try to get out into any sunshine that there is. This is a difficult, dark time of year. Sunshine helps (a half hour of sunshine can be as effective as some antidepressants, studies have shown)
hugs again, be kind to yourself.

First of all I am sending a virtual hug! I today am heading off for my RNY surgery. I too know what it is like to fall and be so disappointed in myself that an ant could not crawl under me!
You are off to the right start - call your clinic up to speak with the behaviourist and anyone else who can offer you guidance and support.
Hang in there kid- you can do this, this is only a setback, not the final chapter.
Michele
I'm so glad you came and posted this here. Definitely no beating up happening - you don't need it and we all know it doesn't help anyhow. We got to the size we are/were by beating ourselves up our whole lives.
Others have made good suggestions - just wanted to come by and say thanks for posting this and I hope you find a way to get back on track very soon.

O.K. you know you have a problem and now you need to seek help. You need to make a plan.
Look at all your options for help. I would speak with someone at your centre and start off talking to them like you did to us here: "Please don't beat me up, I know I have a prob. and that's why I'm here, I need help." What can they offer?
Reading your e-mail again I ate larger portions the further out I was and I started introducing foods that weren't the best options. I wonder how large your portions are and how many times you are opting for "poor choices"
What would concern me the most is that you keep eating them over and over when they make you sick.
I hope you don't consider this beating you up......You do need to get this under control now. The further out you go the more you can eat and the more junk you can tolerate.
Why not start small? Make a plan for the next day..."tomorrow I'm going to get in all of my required liquids" Different things work for different people. What works for you?
Don't give up !!!! The rewards are far too great!!!!!!!!!!!
You've been given a lot of helpful advise so far, hope I can give you one more piece. Since I know that it usually isn't same day that you call that you get appointments with doctors, etc, there's one trick you might try that I've done in the past that helped me a lot. I know that you said you slacked in journaling your food, but open that book again, and start a new page. This time, don't just journal your food, journal your thoughts, stressors, and ideas on how to deal with the stressors that you can come up with. Dealing with things in you head is one thing, but it's a whole lot different when you do it on paper.
Basically what I'm suggesting is turning your Food Journal into a true diary. Every time you start feeling stressed or overwhelmed, start writing. There's no problem with writing in there multiple times a day. Even take it to work, keep it in your purse so that it's handy. I know when I've had a lot of stuff stored inside me, writing it down helped me feel better. I was able to release it where I didn't feel I had anyone to talk to.
Use the tools that are at hand (doctors, social workers, psychologists, etc) and know that you have friends here.
Cathy.
Sunny, life is full of stressors and we all react differently. So, you made some bad choices, you've recognized it and you want to do something about it. I say baby steps. Start by being kind to yourself. Do something good for yourself whether its a bubble bath, a manicure, a massage or a few minutes to read or do a craft. You need to be good to you and as you said, stop letting people project their problems on to you. Yeah, easier said than done, but again baby steps.
I know for me, when I get off track, I log into myfitnesspal and somehow I can't lie to myself when I write down what I've eaten, otherwise I can sneak a lot more in. What about "spoiling" yourself with your favourite proteins? I absolutely love a good steak or seafood and am more than happy to fill up on these things and leave very little room for the junk. Make a protein heavy soup, that is comforting and healthy. Get out a couple of times a day for a good walk, even if its 5-10 minutes, it will feel good, I promise.
Hang in there,, we're here for you!
Hi Sunnydaz and thank you for sharing. Great advice here and I will take some of it myself. It is overwhelming some days to just make sure you eat healthy and never mind the rest of life. It is easy to slip into old habits and tell yourself that this is okay behaviour. I do not keep tempting food in my house. I even waited until the day before Hallowe'en to buy treats for shelling out and then bought stuff I was not tempted to eat myself. Use whatever tricks you have to keep yourself on track and sometimes it is hour by hour. Drinking water is a great diversion and keeps you hydrated as well. You have done an amazing job of losing weight and that success alone should make you smile everyday. Hugs to you and stay positive.![]()
