Good Positive comments

I am on OH a lot and read a lot of the comments and sometimes there is a lot of comments about side effects or things that have gone wrong and yes I understand that sometimes when things are going good people don't post about it.

However, as I am pre-op and go to see surgeon on Dec. 14th. I am nervous/anxious just as I am sure others are.  So what I am asking is for people that have had the surgery to post couple of good things that have happened since they had WLS.

It's always good to the negative with the positive.

Thanks

I had my rny May 28/12 and since then have gone from size 55 waist pants to size 36 (was size 38 in grade 7), shirts from XXXL to medium or large!  I can cut my own toenails without getting a hernia, can run (yup run) about 4 kms without even puffing and huffing, can share a supper dish with my wife at a restaurant, feel grand pretty much every day!  I can watch a movie without food before or during, can feel comfortable sitting in my seat without spilling into the next seat and don't need a seatbelt extender on airlines (and don't have to hug myself the whole flight to stay within the bounds of the seat I paid for)!  I have more energy and accomplish more in a day now than I did in three/four pre rny!  Sending positive vibes, enjoy the ride!

I had surgery over 3 years ago.  I have not had any complications, problems, intolerances, deficiencies etc., etc., *knocks on wood*  I got to goal in 10 months and am with 15 lbs of my goal now.  I think that if I put my mind to it, I could drop the 15, but I`m not unhappy where I am.

Life is good!

ETA  I should add some really important points!  I no longer have sleep apnea, high cholesterol or high blood pressure.  I usually walk between 15-30 minutes day which I usually enjoy, but still don`t like to ``exercise`` .  I can and do wear high heals and boots and can pretty much grab a pair of size 8 pants off the rack (sometimes 10, usually 8) and they`ll fit (from a very tight 18).  Yep, life is good and I am very grateful for my wls!

I have gone from a size 22 to a size 12/14 in 5 months.  I look 10x better than before.

My shoe size is also smaller !!!

I am full much quicker.  I can move much easier.

I have a boyfriend.  I am having sex !!!

I didn't get epic hair loss.

I do not drown my sorrows in cookie batter anymore.  (near miss sometimes).

Within 4 months, I could chase my kids on the ice without stopping. I could cut my toe nails without pain.  I could paint my toes (never did that before). I can shop at Giant Tiger in regular sizes.  I walked the local Santa Clause parade (ran a couple times because I was too busy giving out candy and got behind.  No huffing and puffing running to catch up.  I can catch up to my kids when i need to (4 & 8 years old).  I can carry my 4 year old when he's asleep (dead weight).  I'm not self conscious of how much space I take.  I'm volunteering for more and more (think I just volunteered to help organize 2 tournaments, one for each kid).

I only have one regret about my RNY, that I didn't do it sooner.

You'll do fine and love your surgery too.

Positive comments eh?

I'm no longer Type 2 diabetic. My slightly elevated cholesterol has disappeared. I had no complications with the surgery at all. In fact it was really easy.

I don't know how much weight I've lost but my pants fall down if I don't wear a belt.

My bra's fit now (haven't lost any boobage which is ok by mekiss)

I spend way less on food, although my protein supplement still hurts but only a little

I'm learning more about cooking which I really enjoy.

I'm learning about nutrition, carbs etc

And apparently you can tell in my face that I've lost weight.

You probably already know my story since we have met.I had my surgery last January.  I am off my blood pressure meds and diabetic meds. I have a lot less pain and am doing things I have not been able to do for years. Like Catw. I wish I had done this years ago. I still have some medical problems but they are preexisting.

I for one had some complications post op but that has not dimmed the benefits of this procedure. I am now 3 mths out and have lost almost 50 pounds, have had to give away 3/4 of my wardrobe, down in pant size from 24 to 18-which are now about 2 inches to big at the waist-- top size down from 3X to med or large, more energy, able to walk farther than I have walked in I can't remember when,I can now share a chair with my grandchildren without making them sit on the armrest, able to bend over and tie my shoes, putting pantyhose on is no longer a struggle, and the list goes on--

despite having had problems right out of the gate I wouldn't chang a thing--I'm just loving my RNY!!!

Good luck in your journey to healthy living ---you will do great!!!

Johanna
