Hi Everyone! Newbie here...I don't have my date yet but it's looking like Jan/Feb 2013. I'm getting things ready and have been looking for a protein supplement that will work for me. I am allergic to egg proteins and therefore have to be careful what kind I purchase. I've been trying out a few different ones but they are either vanilla or chocolate. I find the flavours a little over powering. Are there any "egg free/flavourless" protein supplements out there?

another newbie question....

I'm great with acronyms lol

Try GNC or Popeye's to see what they have.  Both usually have samples and I know GNC will take back something if it doesn't work for you.

I like GNCs pro performance whey iso burst unflavored and love it!

Thanks Dee!   What do you do with the unflavoured stuff??  Just curious...do you add it to food or make your own smoothies/shakes?

BTW, it was so great to meet you and get to know you a bit better on Saturday, I love your forthrightness and willingness to share your journey with us newbies!!  AND I love your sense of humour!!

Blessings,

Kim

Awww thanks...it was great to meet you too...

i mix the protein powder when I make smoothies...I don't measure  but here goes... Abt  1 cup of soy milk...1 frozen banana, 2/3 cup another frozen fruit...2 tbsp of protein powder...about 2-3 big tbsp of 0% plain Greek yogurt......blend well...I ave to add soy r regular milk or water till blended smooth.... I will get 1x 500ml travel mug for my son.... 2x 250ml for my daughter and I... And even 1 x250ml for later

i will also mix it with milk for a latte and a davinci flavoring for a zing... I will heat the milk up at night

I'm preop but have a shake every morning. I buy Presidents Choice natural protein powder. Only ingredients are whets isolate and bromelin. It costs about $30. They also have a soy option as well as chocolate and vanilla. I just like to add my own flavours

I too prefer flavouring my own shakes and such so for me it makes more sense to have the unflavoured powder. Like I mentioned earlier the vanilla flavour, while yummy is very over powering when I aim to enjoy my blueberry smoothie.

Thank you everyone for input!! I'll look for them! The bulk barn is my friend

at almost 4 years post-op my advice would be (don't) go overboard with buying in advance

...your tastes and preference will change..I had a difficult time I must have tried at least 12+ different types/flavours/pre-mixed etc etc before I settled on the brand and type I use to this day (4 years later).

you have to go in also knowing that even non-flavoured has a flavour...and being able to use SF syrups and other items the further you are out to make it enjoyable will go a long way

I currently use IsoPro- low-carb (unflavoured)..but I have no clue if its egg free.

prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.

life is AMAZING when you continue on the right path~!.  Use your surgeons gift to the fullest~!
