Birth Control
I have a question about birth control. I am taking the birth control pill right now and using condoms as well. I have been told by my clinic that I should not use the birth control pill because of malabsorption etc. I told my family doc about that and she referred me to a GYNE clinic at St Joes hospital which is great, but my appointment is not until June 2013 and they can not move me up. I do want to get pregnant eventually but not until at least late 2013-2014. I am scared to death of getting pregnant before. Is there another form of birth control that I can use in place of the birth control pill that I don't have to wait till June to get? I am staying on the pill until i get something else...it just eases my mind a little whether it is working or not. Hope u can help with suggestions- Not being sexually active is not an option : )

There are many options available to you! See your GP again and get a script for something else.
I use NuvaRing and love it. It's super simple to use and more effective than the pill because it's so easy to use it perfectly. Because it's a ring you insert there are no malabsorption issues. I use this along with condoms.
Lots of ladies on this board use different options - depo, IUD, etc. I'm sure more will chime in.

For now, I highly recommend you use a spermicidal foam or jelly along with your condoms. Here is some information about them.
Best of luck!

I had the same issues... was suggested that I try something different, etc. I was referred to a GYN here and have be prescribed Mirena as I already have children and am DONE!! This could be an option for you as well if you could get into a GYN sooner. I know and see several people here at work that have them inserted, regardless of whether they have had children or plan to in the future.
Good luck in whatever you decide... I hope that you are able to get in sooner!
