Interesting article.  It's amazing what our bodies probably take in with regards to chemicals, everyday.  Could it cause obesity?  Maybe, but why does it only affect some people this way, and not others?  I'm sure we have all been exposed to these chemicals, so why only some?

There could be some merit to this but I think its more that society has enabled lack of motion. Meaning we do far less labourious activities.

Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional.

Not only that but with all the processed foods, and pre-made foods... Restaurant foods, etc.

it has become "nothing" for the average person to consume up to 3000 calories in one meal when they go out or have a formal dinner.

Processed food really came into vogue after the second World  War. That coupled with less physical activity, fast food restaurants, more Moms working and so less home cooked meals and larger portions everywhere. So many things that have cause and continue plague our society makes us or me one of the first generations who will not live as long as there parents. NOW that is a sad commentary on our society.

I truly believe that obesity is so hard to treat because it is such a multi-faceted disease.  There are genetic components for sure, and I am sure their are environmental components (whether the article is on to something or not) , there are learned/habitual behaviour components, and there is also a huge psychological/emotional facet as well.

In my family there were 5 children. My dad was tall and thin. My mom was short and over weight. Of the 5 of us 3 were thin and two heavy. as children. As adults only one remained thin all her life. We all grew up in the same conditions but grew different. I think there is so much that they do not know.

as adults of course the north American diet did not help any of us!
