ok so my surgery is two weeks from today. lana said the dietitian would call me before today, left msg for them yesterday and nothing.

I cant tolerate optifast, we all already knew that, (due to severe lactose issue/vomiting ect)

So im kinda left in the dark over hear, and I really dont want open surgery because my liver isnt shrinking. Why cant I get ahold of anyone, and why has it taken this long!

I dont know what to eat/drink. Ive had sugar free jello today and two egg white scrambled. I dont know if that was okay? does anyone have any recommendations?  when I search it theres so many different pre op diets.

Every centre seems to have their own alternate diet but it needs to be low fat, low carb, high protein.  If you don't hear from anybody then I would stick to lean cuts of meat, probably just chicken breast and white fleshed fish and then have some low GI veggies. If you ever did Atkins or Bernstein, you could eat the same veggies both those diets allow, have SF jello, broth and so on.  Hopefully someone through Ottawa can tell you exactly what they had to do but if not stick to low carb, low fat, high protein and try to keep it around 900 calories since Optifast is 900 calories.

I did an alternative diet because Opti made my lips and tongue numb.

What they told me to to was to use diabetic boost 3 times (or glucerna) a day and eat 1 regular meal, protein first.

I don't know what they will tell you, but I was through Ottawa and this was the suggestion.
