So I met Dr. Smith today.  He is very nice.  I am seeking a revision.  He asked me a bunch of questions and said I would be a good candidate for an RNY.  Explained that I'm at higher risk due to the past VBG I had but I knew that already.  I may have to have an open surgery, he won't know till he gets started.

So I will meet with the SW, NUT, and RN on March 13th and if they all give me the go ahead.  Then I can call his office to book my surgery.  He will do a scope on me the same day I have the pre-op.

So the bad news, surgery wouldn't be till August!  I was really hoping to have it by end of May.  Being fat in summer (I work in a non air conditioned warehouse) is a killer.  There were a few times last year I thought I was going to pass out from the heat.  For me, I know it's the extra weight that makes me even hotter then most.

I will be put on a cancelation list so here's hoping someone cancels.

A special shout out to the ladies from OH that I met today.  Shelley, Teresa, Carol, and Jennifer.  I may have talked to others but didn't get your names.  It was great to put faces to the people I see on here all the time.  Let's do it again soon :)

P.S. Still haven't been weighed.

Believe me I know what it is like to be hot ... always am .. But at least you will get your surgery sooner than others. I actually envy you. Good luck

To me it is all good news.  Timing of surgery really depends on the availability of the surgeon, their calendar and the O.R. schedule.  Not to worry though, you will be freezing once you have surgery.  I was really cold for the first three months until I was better established with eating denser protein.    I still am colder than I used to be, but I am generally not as frozen as I was initially.

Good luck with your revision!

That is great news! I know it is disappointing that it is so far out, but you never know, cancellations do happen. Think of it as lots of time to prepare for the surgery and healing period.

That is great news. Some have been turned down completely so at least they are willing to try.

Honestly... I am so glad you got Dr Smith. I hear lovely things about him and even though it may take a bit longer... It is best to be in good hands.

*big hugs*

Lovely meeting you also!

Just remember that everything you do will the for the last time. The last summer you have to swelter in the heat. etc.etc. etc.

I say LUCKY YOU! I had a OTN with Dr.Smith today and he is amazing!! I knew my surgery wouldn't be until the end of the summer and I am okay with that because I know he is the surgeon for me, I will wait for him! People out of the same  Centre as myself  (Sudbury) got another surgeon and they have dates in like May, but after meeting Dr.Smith, I don't care, he is fantastic! We are all lucky that we get to have the surgery, like one other "poster" said some are all together refused! So you can make it through one last summer, just keep your eye on the prize!

PS: As a little side note I too work in a non air conditioned workplace, and it does suck! But we can do it! ONE MORE SUMMER, ONE MORE SUMMER, that's what I will be telling myself in July!

:)

He was very nice but I'm sure all the doctors are well qualified to do the surgery.  If it means having surgery in May, I'll gladly switch doctors.  I don't want to feel the way I feel one more day then I have to.  Once I see the other docs in march, I will see if there's any chance of getting this done sooner with whoever is available.
