Intessuception

Hello I had intessuception sorry for my spelling in 3 places back in September. I have been feeling horrible the last 2 weeks and have alot of pain in my left mid stomach area. I have had a ct scan that shows nothing but the pain continues. I go to Guelph on Wednesday to see the surgeon and she is suggesting another lap scope to check things out. Should I go under again or just go to fluids for a bit to rest my stomach? Anyone else suffer from this?

Hi Shadow,

I think you should have another scope to check out your intestine, if your surgeon thinks you should, just to be on the safe side.

I've had a scope once and although I wasn't in pain before - it certainly wasn't a pleasant procedure, because I wasn't sedated, nor was the 'prep' any fun, but better safe than sorry.  I hope they sedate you and you don't remember much.

Jenn. :)

I was in hospital again a week ago - nausea ++ could not eat/drink.

They did a CT scan - did not show a lot - also did a GI scope ( I was under LOL so that was fine) - and then they did a lap scope the following day and repaired a few small hernia's - (but not real blockage).

I am very carefully of what I eat - and sometimes it just still sits there like a ton of bricks - but it is getting better.

Hang in -

enlightened It is not very uncommon for it to happen.

I had open abdominal surgery December 14 for an Intussusception. It took 3-4 CT scans before it was found as it would happen and then release again. The pain I had before was in the centre of my abdomen and would come in waves or spasms.

I woke up from that surgery with severe right side pain that I still have today. CT scan showed nothing so I had an ultrasound last week. I don't have the results of the US yet.

Go to see the surgeon and see what they say. Is the pain you are having this time the same as before?

Hello I go to see my surgeon tomorrow providing this storm doesn't hit us. The pain is the same but I came home on Friday and went straight to bed and have done nothing all weekend and it is feeling better. I have not eaten much as when I do it seems to flare up. I feel kind of silly now going to see her when I am feeling better but think I need to rule out the intussuseption is back. When you say open ab surgery where did they cut? Thank you

That the problem with Intussusceptions they can constrict and release over and over again. Mine was actually happening when they opened me up for surgery. Even my surgeon was surprised to see it happening.

It took multiple trips to Emerg and multiple CTs before they saw mine.

Open abdominal surgery means cut straight up the middle from pubic bone to just below the breasts. They used the same scar that I had up the middle from my Fleur de Lis tummy tuck. They went around my belly button.
