Calories a day
Hello everyone,
I'm feeling panicky and insecure about my calorie consumption. I saw on MyfitnessPal that my sister ate less than me yesterday. Me eating more than others even after surgery freaks me out.
I'm 14 months post op and I eat roughly 1200-1300 a day. Sometimes even 1400. Friday I managed over 1700!!!! I follow all the rules and don't have any junk and still manage to blow it!
How far out are you and how many calories do you typically eat a day?
Thanks!

Hi girl. Our "golden oldies" will have more input on this topic.
IMHO - it also depends what you do during the day - if you are sitting on your bu..(behind) all day - that is one things - but if you are burning tons of calories at the gym it is another thing. Could be that 1700 is a bit much
- but I think 1 year out and if you reached your goal, 12-1300 appears ok - that is if you can keep your weight in control.
Just make sure you don't stretch your pouch.
And as said - maybe the "more experienced ones in the group" could give you some feedback on that one.
Thanks!:)
1700 wasn't totally accurate. I had a gryo but only ate the meat and veggies inside. I inputted half a gyro (300 calories) just to be safe. 1700 definitely isn't typical.
I don't eat more than a cup, and I make sure there's at least 2 hours before eating a snack after a meal. Just some days I teach all day and then I work at night. So on those days my calories tend to be closer to 1300. But I don't know if that's ok. Blah.
So stressful! I didn't care about calories the first year. I'm still losing, just very very slowly (not complaining, just want to make sure I'm not developing bad habits or eating too much)
I work shifts so when I am working one day will be 1400 and the other 450. It should all balance out. Plus, you overcalculated your totals for the 1700. Be fair to yourself !
If you are on maintenance ? And aren't gaining then you are doing something right. Your body may need those calories to function. Sounds like you are a busy lady and on the go go go so .. as long as you are following the rules still you should be good.
Quit comparing yourself to others, you got this !! ![]()
p.s. I am only 6 months out and I eat 800-900 a day with at least 70gs of protein. So I don't really count and maybe I should be quiet lol
Are you losing on your current consumption?....if so, then it sounds like you are doing OK....is your ticker correct?....
In maintenance....I ate 1500 - 1800 per day.......I am fairly active....
I am trying to lose right now so please dont view my calories on the "What are you Eating" thread as typical.....if that is one of the reasons you are feeling some panic....I am leaving on vacaion next week and want to lose what I gained on the last trip....before I go on the next one!!
Hope this helps you
I wasn't counting calories until last week. I figured as long as it was healthy, in the correct portion and at least 2 hours a part, it was fine. I was losing really well, November and December it was just falling off me, but since February I have hit a stall and am slowly losing. One week up I'm a pound, the next I'm down one. That sort of thing. I also have a new roommate who only eats once a day. Since I eat every two hours, I started to feel like a pig.
So long story short, I've started counting my calories and lowering them. I was fat on 1500 calories pre-op so the idea of eating that now scares me.
Your post helped me a lot, thank you!
It all depends on what you are doing and I say what you are eating. I usually try to stay around the 1200 but right now I want to lose 10 pounds so I am trying to stay under. If i go over I first look at what might have taken me over and if is because I had part of an apple than i am OK with that due to the fact it was something that was good for me. I will be aiming for around 1400 calories because I am doing a 30k race the next day. If you are working out than you can go over the 1200 but if not bring yourself back down to the 1200. Make sure you measure your food that helps. Good Luck
