Good Bye Diet Coke?
Ok, I quit smoking in 2007 and it didnt freak me out like the thought of giving up my Diet Coke.
So can someone honestly tell me. Will I have to say good bye to my diet coke FOREVER?
I know its horrible for me, I know aspartame is evil, but I soooooo love it. lol
I drink 1-3 cans a day ( I used to drink 5-7 )
on 6/8/13 3:13 am - Straford, Canada
I drank 2 cases of cans of diet canada dry ginger ale per day, pre RNY. Have not had a sip since. I do enjoy a can of diet ice tea (its non carbonated) a day, to which I add enough water to dilute it in half then enjoy the other half as a post supper dessert. It is my opinion that soft drinks, diet and non diet are related to our obesity levels, though the direct link is vague right now.
I love the carbonated drinks tho.. Guess I need to get my daily amount down to one and none before I have surgery.
I do agree with you, I think its the aspartame in it that lead to obesity
I also drank a lot of diet Coke pre-RNY. After surgery, I only wanted water. I haven't missed the pop at all, so giving it up was a non-issue. My taste has changed a lot. I used to love mushrooms. Now they're just meh. I was a bread and pasta addict; now, don't care about either. I crave protein - yogurt, cheese, chicken, etc....
I continued to drink DC while on Opti and had my last one a few days before surgery.
Sending positive thoughts your way!
I was addicted to pop pre-op. I had easily 3-4 cans per day. I have had it a few times since surgery, as a treat, but pretty much avoid anything carbonated now. Once I got past the initial withdrawal giving it up during Opti, it has been easy to stay away.
I can totally relate, I lived on the stuff pre-op breakfast lunch and dinner. at least 6-10 a day. I think about it everyday, havnt had a sip in over a year, but I think about it alot!!
Just start with eliminating it easily like start with no pop after 7 pm or something for a week and then pick another thing like no pop at the dinner table. etc, slow and steady you can do it if i can do it anyone can do it
I stopped drinking my diet pop right after my orientation. Then gave up my coffee. I made the decision to have this surgery , and i am willing to give up anything in order for me to become healthy and happy. Pop and all the crap i have been eating sure didnt make me happy, it made me fat miserable and sick. So i dont care how much i might crave something bad for me , i wont be eating or drinking it , and my surgery is in less than 3 weeks and cant wait...Wishing you well... Krista...
